This is a few years old now but I still laugh like a loon
       whenever I think about it.
You know Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, the nonprofit that
has gained a lot of traction on Facebook for posting pictures of
their good old boys and girls?
       These guys:
  HTML https://www.facebook.com/OldFriendsSeniorDogSanctuary
For awhile, there was an Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary
Tumblr, that was just crossposts from Facebook. It did fairly
well, got a lot of followers (EVERYONE loves old dogs), and
       then...in May, 2018....
       Well, see for yourself:
  HTML https://old-friends-senior-dog-sanctuary.tumblr.com/
In the fallout, it came out that the Tumblr was not actually
sanctioned by OFSDS, they had no knowledge of the account, and
it was just some random woman who really loved those old dogs
and wanted to devote a Tumblr to them. She ran multiple accounts
and got confused which one she was posting to.

I don't know if anyone knows more about this story, but somehow
espn broadcasted a high school football game for a high school
that doesn't really exist and it's a lot to believe how this
       happened.

Not funny but sticking in my craw a bit
I sometimes play Boggle with Friends online, a cousin or two of
mine like it and it's fun enough.
Weirdly after a recent update there's a word they no longer
accept, and hey, some day someone may accuse me of being woke
but it isn't today. I get it, if I squint, but rape is an actual
word in the actual dictionary so I don't think deleting it
serves any purpose in a game about words, just like Governor
Abbott can't stop all rapes by saying so, neither can Boggle
stop any rapes by pretending the word does not exist.
I think it's stoopid to do this.

I play wordscapes and words like rape and porn are accepted as
bonus words but they are never ever in the puzzle itself.

Just gotta say, I've been a fan of octopuses for a while now -
and this just makes me love them all the more! (I mean, how can
you not love someone with a brain in each tentacle plus one more
       in the head for luck?)
The frisbee-throwing move is awesome. :)

Cephalopods are my favorite marine charismatic megafauna.
Anatomy and physiology aside (3-D color camouflage is effing
awesome) they live strange compared to what is most familiar to
us. Highly intelligent but very short lived. This intelligence
is obtained with zero parental care after they emerge from their
egg. They can learn how to do amazing things like using a
coconut shell as armor as they traverse a barren stretch of
sand, or how to remove a threaded jar lid to get to the crabby
treat inside. At the cephalopod lab I visited regularly as a
student, the biggest challenge with some species was keeping
them in their tanks. They were persistent and not easily
discouraged from constantly trying new methods of escape.
A favorite among favorites is the Pacific Giant Octopus, which
lives for 3-5 years. The female breeds once, then she dies as a
result of carefully protecting her eggs from predators, algae,
and any other fouling. She emerges from the den weak from
starvation only to be eaten by the predators standing by as her
tiny offspring drift away on the current as micronekton.
It has always struck me as odd compared to land animals with
high intelligence that typically breed more than once and
provide at least some parental care. Very different indeed.

Confession: I used to be scared of octopi (octopusses?) as a
little kid. No doubt it was because of some lame monster movie
       I'd seen.
So this octo-lovefest in this thread is pretty damn funny to me
       🐙👍🧡
