Do you know that making it fresh is really easy?
       Buy a bag of cranberries
Wash and remove berries past their prime, drain
Bring 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to a boil
       Pour in the cranberries
When the skins start popping, reduce heat to about medium
       Simmer for 5 minutes
Done, refrigerated tastes best to me, but it's ready to go.
We used to buy Ocean Spray brand and they also had a recipe for
orange cranberry. Yum. I forget to get an orange when I'm
shopping for Thanksgiving supplies, or I would make that one.

I don't eat cranberries, but I appreciate a good recipe. Thanks.

My version - use OJ instead of water, and add cinnamon, nutmeg,
and a tiny bit of cloves.

I use juice (and zest) of [s]one[/s] two limes, 1/3 cup sugar,
finely diced jalapeño, and finish with a splash of mezcal.

The last time I made a special Thanksgiving meal for myself was
in 2018. In 2019 I delivered meals to others on Thanksgiving
with a local group. Last year I was recovering from whatever
infection or illness (possibly covid, I wasn't tested) hit me on
November 15th. I usually make a nice meal but it doesn't have
to be traditional Thanksgiving fare. This was 2018's menu. How
       I miss eating cheese.
       Mocktail:
1/2 Blood Orange Italian Soda, 1/2 Pelligrino, lemon twist
       Appetizer:
Spinach Balls with Herbed Yogurt Dip
       Dinner:[quote author=northbayteky
       link=topic=499.msg40076#msg40076 date=1636578250]
I haven't really even thought of the menu yet. Also, we don't
know if anyone else is coming. My son and his girlfriend are
with us this year since last year was her parents.
       Our typical menu:
Turkey (fresh, hopefully,) if we feel spendy we'll go to
Woodland and get the Brannigan's turkey.
       (
  HTML https://branigansturkeyfarm.com/)
       Stuffing
       fresh cranberries
And some other stuff. In years past my daughter would make the
sweet potato casserole, I would also make a pumpkin cheese cake,
       and of course pumpkin pie.
We have given up potatoes, so I'm not sure what we're doing
about mashed potatoes. Mr makes a killer gravy. Maybe I'll mash
       sweet potatoes.
As for the vote on lemon meringue pie, it is the best. Hands
down. Of course [member=6]Queenie[/member] hasn't shared her
killer death pie with me, so perhaps my mind can be changed :-)

Roasted Vegetables with Rosemary & Feta
       Tuscan Sauteed Kale & Tomato
       Ultimate Vegetable Lentil Loaf
       Dessert:
       Vegan Pumkin Pie Mousse
This year I am trying to create something vaguely like my
grandma's cornbread dressing that works for my GI system. I am
winging it because she never gave her recipes to anyone and I
haven't found any I like. I have tested a couple of ideas with
encouraging results. Should be interesting even if it doesn't
go as well as I hope. I will also make a sweet potato casserole
with a streussel type topping and at least one more vegetable
dish. Impossible sausage will be my protein and coconut milk
vanilla bean ice cream with homemade granola and fruit for
       dessert.
       [/quote]
My dad made a good cornbread dressing and of.course no recipe.
He baked the cornbread with some finely chopped celery, onion
and ground sage. He used bacon grease to coat the pan which
wouldn't work for you. This was made the day before. He used
more celery and onion with the crumbled cornbread, would add a
few pine nuts and made half of it with green chili. It was
cooked in a casserole dish and he put it under the broiler a bit
to brown then lowered temp. He thought this kept moisture from
escaping. Not sure what he used for the liquid, probably broth
,and sage, thyme and not sure what else for spices. The browned
kinda crunchy top was my favorite.

I'm in charge of dessert this year and I always show up with
wine I like. I usually bring a fairly oaky California chardonnay
for sipping on before dinner and a pinot noir for dinner.
So far I have a vegan apple crisp in the freezer and need to
think of one more dessert. Maybe chocolate? I saw a chocolate
mousse pie on Half Baked Harvest that looked really good.
Unfortunately we are taking a trip in the days leading up to
Thanksgiving to celebrate Rick's bday so it either needs to be
made ahead of time or easy to pull together the night before.
I was hoping to make the same Barefoot Contessa gruyere bread
pudding for the stuffing but apparently that was a 1 year thing.
It was so good. I hope I can make it for Christmas.
If I'm eating key lime pie it is hot outside and I've just had
crab cakes. Lemon pie, OTOH, sounds perfectly reasonable for
Thanksgiving. Don't ask me, I don't make the rules.

For a quick chocolate dessert, I would make these cupcakes in a
mini cupcake tin. I like to have a few bites of a lot of
desserts on Thanksgiving and mini is built in sizing.
If you need another vegan dessert, maybe make these with vegan
cream cheese? I’ve never done it but there are some good ones on
the market. I use vanilla bean paste in the cream cheese layer
to give it a more distinct vanilla/chocolate flavor.

Yummmm. Have you made them before? I agree with you on bite
size. No matter how much I try, I never successfully "save room
       for dessert"
These look like they'd save well if I made them a few days
       before.

If you like sipping white wine, I suggest a Fetzer
Gewurztraminer. Don't buy the Chateau St. Michelle, it's crap.
They have a nice looking bottle, but their white wines will gag
       you.
I have a hard time witb Chardonnay if I don't have food to wash
       it down.
       😉

Daiya nondairy cream cheese is decent.
