We are having THREE Thanksgivings this year. THREE.
Don't know what MIL + BF are making, but we're bringing
absolutely nothing to the table (physically, anyway. We'll, of
course, be bringing our sparkling wit.)
I think FIL + GF are taking us out somewhere? But they could
also be cooking. Hopefully their vegan paella again, that was
       fantastic.
And, as always when I get caught up in DC's
       adult-child-of-divorce madness, I have insisted on a
just-the-two-of-us Thanksgiving, for this weekend. I bought
       Cornish hens. They're very tiny.

In the category of what you're bringing, you forgot the classic
       standard "our appetites"...

You are both WRONG, because key lime pie has everything good
about lemon meringue pie (citrus curd) and nothing bad (possibly
gluey filling, sweaty meringue), and also, graham cracker crust
       is superior.
       Key! Lime! Key! Lime!
Also, key lime pie has perhaps the highest effort/deliciousness
ratio of any food in the universe.

I love key lime pie. But it just doesn't say "Thanksgiving" to
       me.
Traditional dishes that would have been available in fall,
       pre-refrigeration and canning.
       turkey
       stuffing
       mashed potatoes
       grean peas
       cranberry sauce
       wine
       pumpkin pie
       pecan pie
       cranberry pie
       brandy
       tea

       I love cranberry pie.
I like cranberries in general. My Mom said cranberries were hard
to find near her, which is weird because cranberries are grown
in Wisconsin. So I picked up 3 bags, my brother was traveling
for work and found some at a grocery store and bought 3 more. We
       are cranberry rich!

Every year I pick up a bag, forgetting I already had one (or
       three) in the freezer.

The last time I made a special Thanksgiving meal for myself was
in 2018. In 2019 I delivered meals to others on Thanksgiving
with a local group. Last year I was recovering from whatever
infection or illness (possibly covid, I wasn't tested) hit me on
November 15th. I usually make a nice meal but it doesn't have
to be traditional Thanksgiving fare. This was 2018's menu. How
       I miss eating cheese.
       Mocktail:
1/2 Blood Orange Italian Soda, 1/2 Pelligrino, lemon twist
       Appetizer:
Spinach Balls with Herbed Yogurt Dip
       Dinner:
Roasted Vegetables with Rosemary & Feta
       Tuscan Sauteed Kale & Tomato
       Ultimate Vegetable Lentil Loaf
       Dessert:
       Vegan Pumkin Pie Mousse
This year I am trying to create something vaguely like my
grandma's cornbread dressing that works for my GI system. I am
winging it because she never gave her recipes to anyone and I
haven't found any I like. I have tested a couple of ideas with
encouraging results. Should be interesting even if it doesn't
go as well as I hope. I will also make a sweet potato casserole
with a streussel type topping and at least one more vegetable
dish. Impossible sausage will be my protein and coconut milk
vanilla bean ice cream with homemade granola and fruit for
       dessert.

I have been assigned wine and pie. This is good. It's always
good when I can just buy half of what I need to bring. Also
this way I know I will like the wine.

I haven't really even thought of the menu yet. Also, we don't
know if anyone else is coming. My son and his girlfriend are
with us this year since last year was her parents.
       Our typical menu:
Turkey (fresh, hopefully,) if we feel spendy we'll go to
Woodland and get the Brannigan's turkey.
       (
  HTML https://branigansturkeyfarm.com/)
       Stuffing
       fresh cranberries
And some other stuff. In years past my daughter would make the
sweet potato casserole, I would also make a pumpkin cheese cake,
       and of course pumpkin pie.
We have given up potatoes, so I'm not sure what we're doing
about mashed potatoes. Mr makes a killer gravy. Maybe I'll mash
       sweet potatoes.
As for the vote on lemon meringue pie, it is the best. Hands
down. Of course [member=6]Queenie[/member] hasn't shared her
killer death pie with me, so perhaps my mind can be changed :-)

Been thinking...about a fancy stew for Thanksgiving so I can do
prep ahead. The kind with the red wine and all that. Christmas
last year I had delivered from a local restaurant. I was on my
own with daughter stopping by. Everyone had covid that was not
us. It was surf n turf, ribeye with a mushroom marsala sauce,
crumb topped shrimp and scallops in white wine butter sauce.
There was soup(minestrone) and salads and sauteed spinach.
Desert was cheesecake with a dollop of caramel icing. I at like
a queen for days. I have been toying with looking at something
on Goldbelly this year and if anyone has a regional specialty
they are familiar with that is on there then please chime in. I
got a 50 dollar certificate from a Zoom arthritis seminar. :-\

Turkey, mashed red potatoes, gravy made with turkey innards,
White Castle stuffing, some vegetable, the smallest available
can of cranberry sauce (can't stand the stuff).
