I am often assigned dessert. I make a killer apple pie but alas
the Queenie clan prefers a style wildly different from my own
plus there are usually two or three apple pies so I don't make
       that one.
The Death pie disappears within minutes, possibly within
seconds. The key lime pie gets eaten. The pumpkin pie is
usually mostly still there and then I have to bring it home and
feed it to the dog. If the boys would let me I'd skip it
       entirely.
Ooh! Ooh! I also do a low rent thing with cream cheese and
melted chocolate in an oreo crust, sometimes topped with
ganache. That one gets raves and I'm afraid to tell people it's
out of one of those cookbooks compiled entirely of recipes from
the back of cans. It's something like: melt some chocolate
chips. beat room temp cream cheese until fluffy. Add an egg.
Slowly whip in the melted chocolate chips. Pour into an oreo
crust. Bake a little while. Top with ganache when cooled if
desired (I will do this if the top cracks as the pie cools.)
       Watch it disappear.

I love those fluff/salads with a bag of marshmallows.

I think things like these get imprinted in childhood. I'll never
not have marshmallows on the sweet potatoes/pumpkin, but only
       for the holidays.

I missed the description of the Death Pie. Do you mind sharing?

Death Pie is a no-corn-syrup pecan pie that almost killed my
       nut-allergic nephew.
Who was old enough to know better, a legal adult in fact, so
stop looking at me like that!

I'm not looking at you like that; I've read about the lengths
you go to keep people safe, happy, and fed.
Do you use heavy cream in your pumpkin pie?

Queenie, I got that recipe from you a couple of years ago, and
you're right - it disappears almost instantly. Once when I had a
       gluten-free guest I used a gluten-free graham cracker crust
instead of the Oreo crust and that one still disappeared
       quickly.

       Of course.
In food discussions, there is always the one person who is
obviously outclassed by the other cooks, and says obvious (or
downright stupid) things. I'm that cook, even in my house.
Pumpkin pie is my favorite breakfast pie.

Mashed potatoes and an orange chocolate cheesecake, probably.
We'll have 8 kittens and our own clowder underfoot that week, so
mostly stuff that can be made standing in one place.

I will allow that good lemon meringue pie is to die for. Alas,
it is not always good. Key lime, OTOH is pretty good even when
       it's not at its best.
       [/quote]
Baking is not my thing. I can't make a pie crust. But I can
make a delicious key lime pie. Joy of Cooking recipe. Slightly
sweeted whipped cream on top. Amazing! You are spot on with
       your ratio.
