Hello everyone! It's good to be here :)
I meant to post this before OT got scuttled...if any of you are
puzzle solvers, there is a wonderful, vibrant community at
cryptograms.puzzlebaron.com. When I first encountered this Hax
community, you all reminded me powerfully of the "crypto nuts".
Each time you solve a cryptogram, you can leave a comment, and
reading those responses almost becomes the incentive to solve
the quote. In addition, there are threads where solvers can
interact with each other in real time.
Like you, they get to know and care about each other. They cheer
each other on, give support in hard times, and mourn each other
when they die. Like you, they sometimes meet up in real life,
which I have had the pleasure of doing. They have their resident
curmudgeons, class clowns, loving grandmotherly types, sharp
political analysts...and even a Bora analog called Bansaisequoia
(who, sadly, recently died).
As a bonus, there is no such thing as OT, ever! I haven't been
there in a few years due to a concussion - I can't coordinate
the eyes, brain and typing skills anymore. But if you visit the
site, you might run across a comment or two of mine

Thanks, Universalmom. I remember loving cryptograms when I still
got the daily newspaper. If I did nothing else, I did the
Celebrity Cipher (daily) or Cryptoquote (on Sunday). It was one
of those things where once you solved one, and knew it could be
done, you could, eventually, solve any one. I introduced the
solving of them to my aging uncle, who until then considered
them impossible. He also fell in love with them after that. :-)
Good memories. I question my ability to still do it.
Thank you, this was kind of you to post.
