Amazon fresh has been out of coke zero in the bottles on and off
for months now. Even walked into a real store here, and they
were out.
Used car supply is low, new car supply is lower.
My car is a few months away from being paid off and has very low
miles. My dealership has been begging me to sell the car to
them and purchase a new car for many months now. The market for
quality used cars must be very hot right now because my car is
in great condition but it is nothing special (base model fuel
efficient small sedan).

I've recently read stories where people are selling cars for
more than they paid two years ago, especially trucks.

All of them. God, all of them.
Many of the products we use here are also used in vaccine
manufacture. Items that I used to get in a day are now b/o up
to and over a year, which makes planning a nightmare. A plastic
shortage also means that many of the chemicals we buy cannot be
obtained even though there is no shortage of those chemicals.
At home it's grocery store items. I'm starting to see stuff
that was just completely gone for a year, like lysol spray, but
if I see the yogurt that Mr Q likes or our favorite pickles I
stock up because who knows when it will come in again? So far
we haven't had any trouble getting things like clothes or
laundry detergent or toilet paper.
I've also noticed that produce in general looks pretty bad, and
the egg section is either overflowing or empty. Gas prices are
up at least 30% but I haven't seen shortages.
It's pretty weird for me to simply not be able to purchase
something at any price. In the before times if you had enough
money you could get pretty much anything.
I've heard that coffee is going to get scarce and that will be a
bad, bad day at my house.

At work I got the last order of common lab supplies from the
spring in October as promised (so happy about that!), but I am
very concerned about the next order. I will need items I expect
to be slow to arrive if they are available at all (I am waiting
for the purchase order). I am attempting to stay six months
ahead of being completely out of these items but that may not be
enough time. The powers that be seem to think I am exaggerating
a bit but this is all new to the administrators I am working
with.

Mr robot has had cash offers (unsolicited) for twice what we
paid for his truck a few years ago. I don't mean generic offers
from the dealer, I mean people pull up to the house and approach
us.
It's not an expensive truck, so twice what we paid isn't
actually a life changing amount, but its still shocking.

I wonder if someone is thinking about retooling an old factory
to produce some of the shortages we are waiting on overseas?
There are a number of people who are beyond just thinking about
it. My company got to the point several months ago of having the
molds for some products produced overseas, shipped here, and
then used here for production.
A bunch of this is about portability. It's far cheaper to buy a
lot of component parts overseas to assemble overseas when they
only have to be shipped short distances and haven't been through
as many pieces of supply chain to get to the assembler. Each
piece increases in price along the way to the assembler, the
more steps of the supply chain that they have to go through. So
it is in general, far cheaper to ship an assembled item than the
pieces of the item to assemble. As long as your assembled item
is not so large that it takes up a LOT of room in a shipping
container. Which is why you get "partially assembled" items, or
"items to be assembled by user".
So if the *material* is here, you can make it here. If you have
to ship the material here to make component parts, that's a hit.
If you have to ship component parts, that's a hit.

Yes, I generate information for client invoices and the process
has become complicated because of the b/os. I'll generate an
order and charge it to a client account, but then I end up
having to use supplies from a different order because the stuff
I requested did not come in, so when the money people look up
those accounts they can't see what has actually been spent
where.
It's kind of a nightmare. They've been incredibly nice about
all of the extra work it's generating for them. These are just
very strange times.

For months I couldn't find Mrs. Meyers' cleaning solution,
either in the spray bottles or the concentrate. You could get
dish soap or laundry detergent, but not the regular all-purpose
cleaner.
Now I can find the spray bottles but not the concentrate. I
have found it on line but not in stores.
My favorite smoked deli turkey has been out of stock for months.
Evidently the plant that processes the various kinds of turkey
can't hire enough workers to make the smoked kind.

Kleenex is in short supply around here ... which is a problem in
our allergy-ridden household. And I still can’t find the Works
cleanser.
Plus, canning jar lids are still out of stock everywhere
locally. If anyone here cans, and needs lids, message me — I’ve
found several legit sources to buy name brands in bulk v. the
cheap knock-offs that buckle under pressure.
