Lots of us empathize and are good listeners /readers. Since
you’re not asking for advice I won’t give any, other than ( I
couldn’t resist) please just take some time for yourself, even
if it’s an hour a day to read, stand in the shower, walk, etc.

I'm so sorry. I'll repeat the encouragement to get in touch with
a home hospice organization, because you're right, dying at home
is really difficult. A home hospice service will have medical
providers on call 24/7 so you always know who your first call
is.
I hope he can vote in the fall.

For some time, he didn't have a documented diagnosis in the
chart that would qualify him for Medicare coverage for hospice.
He didn't have a slow decline. We talked to an agency after his
first ICU admission. Both of my parents were on hospice prior to
their deaths so I was pretty familiar with it. I have a contact
request into another agency and expect to hear back from them
then. But if he goes on hospice, his BiPaP may not be covered
any longer. That was the choice when he left the hospital the
second time. He doesn't like the BiPaP but it's probably keeping
him alive.
We have a fair amount of support so I get time to myself most
days of the week and have respite care so I can go on vacations.
Somehow one bad day wipes it all out though. And he gets anxious
and scared when he starts feeling off.

in addition to floofs one unexpected thing that got me through
my moms recent agonizing hospital and rehab stay was random
outtakes from The Office that inexplicably had dropped into my
Instagram feed. Watching a young John Krasinski squeal with
stifled laughter while trying to film a ridiculous scene
without breaking character was like a balm. ( And I never even
watched the show when it was on bc i find comedies annoying.)

possible, even though that just seems completely insufficient.

here for you.
