Regional hot dogs - was the best one left out?

I didn't spot that one anywhere, [member=27]Skowronek[/member].
Mostly they described various regional styles from around the
country and, in some cases, where you could get one and/or find
a recipe for it.
As a sort of an Honorable mention, they included DC's specialty,
the Half Smoke,
technically a sausage but worth including. It's my favorite.

No. And they tended to leave a huge swathe of the country out.
If they went south at all it was along a coast with a tiny dip
into Arizona, how brave. I'm not sure how the Sonoran
"dominates" the southwest given that I've never heard of it here
in TX, but TBH, most people don't think anything south of San
Antonio is part of the US anyway, so...

I agree with Aardtacha that the article left most of the country
out. I bought a package of hot dogs so we could have them today.
Our toast to the July 4ths of my youth and also no real cooking
for me, not that I’ve done much lately.

Same. Half-smokes are the best. They have such a perfect snap
and I love the spicier flavor. I love a classic hot dog too, but
I think a half smoke does everything a good hot dog does and
does it better. It's like a Hot Dog Plus.
Second best hot dog I've had - or best if a half-smoke doesn't
count - was in Iceland, of all places. Not where you'd expect to
find an amazing hot dog but they're pretty famous there:

I am sad that I've never encountered a Half Smoke hot dog!
I usually just buy Hebrew National dogs on the rare (once every
year or two) that I buy hot dogs. The local Ambassador dogs are
pretty good as well, but I haven't had them in at least a
decade.
Edited to add that I was planning to have a typical July 4th
dinner here that was easy - dogs or sausages, sauerkraut, potato
salad, coleslaw, etc. but husband scheduled a colonoscopy for
Wednesday, which means this is his last day before the
restrictions start. And I didn't need to eat all those foods
that he won't be able to eat for days - as much as I would love
to.
