Sanity Saver for remote tech issues

If you have parents or kids who routinely call you for help,
setting up remote access to allow you to screenshare/control
their computer may be a sanity saver.
Currently I do this with my godmother, we're both on Macs using
Jump Desktop. It's a paid app - I think it cost us $30 each (has
to be paid to install on each if not part of a family sharing
setup on the app store), but it has saved me AT LEAST that in
gas, and definitely in sanity!
There are other apps available, including the ever popular
TeamViewer that works on both the Mac and PC side, but we
stopped using that because despite being free for personal use,
they suspected we were using it for a business use and suspended
my end of the use, but even though my appeal worked, we
continued to have problems on her end, so we looked around for
something else.
We use it for far more than just "this thing isn't working!", we
also use it when she needs to log in to a medical chart and
doesn't know how to navigate the website, etc. Using it means
that I can open the webpage on her computer and move around in
it and let her see everything that is there, etc. Need to order
something on Amazon? Okay, open Amazon, show it to her so she
can confirm it's what she needs/wants, help/let her do the rest
of the ordering process. And so on and so forth.
And now I'm going to go take a nap after our weekly zoom/JD
connect session because I can and don't have to drive home
first. Maybe a snack first.

I use chrome remote desktop, which is free (no mac users on my
support list), and works fairly well. There is minimal latency,
but it doesn't allow you to access some settings on the end
users computer.
Its adequate though to be on the phone with them and click
through to the point they need to take over the mouse and do it,
just another option for anyone who needs this.
My advice with the chrome one is send the link to the user and
walk them through how to use it before its needed (and install
on your own machine at that point too)
