A request from the platform manager/owner

I reported back about the results of our poll on whether or not
to trial the CAF 2.0 layout.
He's asked what features are important to people, what changes
might be made that make the site better for you in terms of ease
of use and general functionality. I told him I would ask.
So... any thoughts?
Please note - this applies to both the desktop version, and any
potential mobile app development.

The reason I wanted to try the other site is that it appeared it
would be better on my eyes. I have real trouble especially as
the day goes on with the current site. There isn’t enough
contrast for me.
Others seemed to feel the exact opposite so I don’t know if
there is an answer.

For me it's not the contrast, although that would help.
I would really like to use the desktop version (all the bells
and whistles) ON my phone. As long as the mobile site remains a
sad imitation, I'm sticking with the full service though tiny
text desktop site.
Is there any way to quote only the last quote in a thread? Our
current setup allows threads to get unwieldy long. I realize
that's probably a no due to programming. But we won't be worse
off for asking.
Thank you [member=1]animaniactoo[/member] for all you do here.

Hmmm. Quote only the last quote or at least collapse the other
previous quotes somehow. That would especially help with the
problem of an ignored user's words showing up in quoted text.

He made some tweaks for us at the time that translated across
the platform, so not sure if you saw it before or after he made
those tweaks.
To some extent, we can tweak the contrast ourselves (meaning I
can go into the settings and adjust size/color, as I did when we
first set up here), but it would be nice if there was a way to
increase contrast without having to do that. Allow the user to
opt for a contrast setting.

It would also help when you've come late to a discussion and
want to comment, but you have to reply to the hours earlier long
chain or it's not clear what you're talking about. I sometimes
try to delete a bunch of stuff in the middle but it can be easy
to mess it up.

About the long quotes - I've see some forums where the quoted
material is automatically tinted in different colors, with a
river of each color along the left side where the quotes are
indented. It would make it easier to remove the innermost
layer(s) of quotes without unbalancing the outer layer.
