I feel really dumb, but what are people looking at in order to
form an opinion? Is it the blue and gray in the conversation
       with the CAF peeps?

Yes, just a trial for a bit and then we'd poll again to see if
we should keep the new format or stick with the original
       version.

Yes, that thread, and you can also hit the "home" button there
to see what the overall layout looks like outside of the thread
       I posted for reference.

Thanks very much. That made the decision much easier.

**Voting has closed. Based on a couple of private messages I
got, the 2 main issues are 1) contrast needs to be better
between the background and the type - I will find out if this is
adjustable. 2) There is too much chaos in the world and the idea
of dealing with even this change is a bit overwhelming right
now. We will revisit this at a future date but for now we will
not be doing a trail run on it.**

Now that the horse is out and the barn door is closed - I did
not respond but I'm glad we're not adopting the new layout, at
       least for now.

**I checked in on the support forum about this. I explained the
2 issues and asked an additional question
       1) Yes, the colors can be adjusted and there are other color
themes (so the same as this version, where I had to edit the
colors to get to something that was better in the quotes).
       2) Said that was understandable.
       3) I asked if the intention is that at some point the "classic"
version goes away entirely. Response: [...] just really
surprised people don't like this theme more...thought was more
modern looking. When I am doing updates I focus on this theme
       more.**

Ani didn’t ask if we wanted to switch to this format she asked
if we’d like to try it for a 2 or 3 weeks.
I was surprised and I’ll admit a little disappointed that people
were not willing to try it. I have trouble seeing the current
version sometimes and thought the new one might be easier on my
eyes. But I wouldn’t know that unless we tried it.
I think some people read as a permanent switch, not a trial. Oh
       well.

I thought the new layout was ugly and harder to read. While I
understood the switch would have been a trial, I didn't see any
reason to do a trial considering I didn't like the look of it.
I'm not sure if anyone misunderstood it was a trial but of
       course that's possible.

I thought it was clearly a trial, too. But the sample was so
off-putting to me, (low contrast colors and the switch of the
functional links from the top left to a cluttered drop down at
the bottom right) - especially the latter change - was just a no
go for me. Plus I'm mentally tapped out right now. Maybe those
differences might not be such a hill to climb later.
Right now, I'm still missing the link to find posts in which I'm
quoted that disappeared and am not loving the Alert link, which
doesn't provide any info that wasn't already available. That's
enough tinkering for me for the moment.
