Yeah, but of the four astronauts sitting in that raft right now,
one is a woman and one is a black man so some progress.

I was watching the NASA stream and I don’t know who it was,
maybe the administrator or an engineer, but he was saying how
because of the politics of the day there was a big rush to get
to the moon for obvious reasons but what the originators wanted
to do was spend that time developing the science and the
knowledge needed to live and work in space. So when people
complain about NASA not having done anything in the last 50
years he points to that. They actually have done a great deal.
And now we’re actually ready to live and work in space. And this
makes perfect sense to me.

the Space Shuttle lifted most of the mass), staffed continuously
since 2000, we've learned a lot about effects of long-term
weightlessness
Several Mars rovers
New Horizons with closeup photos of Pluto and Ultima Thule
Hubble and Webb telescopes

The network we were watching included a person who talked about
a bunch of developments that came from research on the space
station including modifications to a common medication
(forgotten which) to make it easier to administer.

I was just watching a short video of divers near the capsule
before they’d even opened it. You could see the heat coming off
of it. I never thought about them needing to let it cool down.
Good thing I don’t work for NASA.
