Episode 7:
Tiffany handled the immediate post-tribal really well. Didn't
pretend. But didn't lash out either. Well. Not publicly.
Aubry, did NOT handle her conversation as well. Yeah, "forgot"
to play an idol. Nobody FORGETS to play an idol. Especially not
with the level of strategy they all have going.
Jonathon, Jonathon, Jonathon. You are giving WAYYYYY too much
info to a known backstabber.
Dee/Jonathon/Coach - well that's a blowup.
I love love lover that Emily is ready to call Coach out as the
hypocrite that he is.
LOLOLOL @ the lack of reaction to his Haiku.
I think he may have painted a massive target on his back with
the honor shtick and his "campaign".
Arthurian legend? Dude. Now you're digging in to the world of
fiction to create your "wisdom"?
Ozzy and Rizzo returning...
I appreciate that Rizzo is not swayed by Coach at all. I have
definitely warmed up to him over this season.
Dee is getting thrown under the bus and they are coming for her
left, right, and center.
Steph and journey. Yeah, I would not want to be away from camp
right now. There is too much happening and getting it secondhand
is not going to be NEARLY as useful.
Yeah. I gotta say... holding my arm in the air unsupported for
an hour... that's gonna be a bitch.
Steph's first instinct about not telling anyone anything was the
right one.
Rizzo's in hypocrite territory here where he doesn't trust Dee
and is willing to consider letting her go while he's busy
listening to Cirie spill someone else's secrets to him...

Immunity Challenge:
Well... okay, Reward Challenge first...
Interesting that Joe went up for the keys... I would have
expected it to be a smaller lighter person who got boosted up.
But Joe boosted himself.
Blue up well.
Damn, Jonathon made it up, but that looked like he landed hard.
I believe I'm rooting for the blue team here - more of the
peeople I respect are on the blue team.
DAYUMMMM that was close.
Hmmm. I seem to remember that Dee won a challenge like this
during her season.
This has gotta be killing Steph's shoulders. Damn her knees are
torn up.
lol @ Jeff doomtalking. Gee, trying to get in their heads much?
Happy for Ozzy.
Back at camp
Tiff... you need to pay more attention. It's not throwing your
game away to save an ally when you recognize that some of the
people you are playing with are being driven by their egos and
not by good strategy.
Aubry at least recognizes her danger zone.
And holy shit. They're getting ready to kick Tiff off!
This looks ripe for a blindside and getting Coach out. Please
please please PLEASE let that happen.
Yup.... here comes the talk.... and wondering... and they're
gonna go start talking about it. Please let them get him.
Please. I would be so happy.
Although, of course, that may have all been playing that up big
to make it look like the idle talk was more than that and it
will be a fairly straightforward vote. But man I hope not.
Tribal
No. A line in the sand doesn't last. It's fucking SAND. It's one
of the most shiftable porous substances. Sigh. Jonathon,
sometimes I wonder how you made it this far. It's a good thing
you're pretty.
Oh yeah, Cirie is DONE with being told what to do.
Dee... don't tip your hand! Yes, they are playing too hard. But
don't tip your hand about it!
lol @ Joe apologizing for the firehouse setup. I'm interested to
see which way he went. He's smart enough to recognize when it's
time to change tactics.
Looking like Dee vs Tiff so far... is everyone else going to go
for Coach? Please? Pretty please? Or did they all decide not to
rock the boat? Dammit. Not looking good.
Boooo! Ugh.
Nope. Not happy with that. I think that's a point in the game a
lot of people are going to regret later.

Episode 8:
Coach & Jonathon talking:
Yup. Coach is starting to spiral and Jonathon is clearly aware
of all the implications.
Yup, bigger ally meeting about it. Keeping him around long
enough to get out the "middle players" would be a mistake IMO.
This is how he keeps skating by when he should just be out.
Ozzy & Tiff talking: Hmmm... I could like this. Very strategic.
As long as they don't wait too long to make that move.
Pairing up:
lmao @ drawing rocks for BEING the odd man out instead of NOT
being the odd man out.
Christian is cracking me up with his description of pairing up
with Jonathon.
Hah hah @ Coach trying to smooth things over with Tiff. Buddy,
you are already too late to the table. And Tiff makes it clear
that she's not buying it.
Acting civil and friendly about it is what makes me like her as
a player. Politically smart. She knows what she's gotta do and
she does it.
There have been an astonishing number of people who feel like
they need to check in with Coach and try and calm him down. He's
smart enough to take that as a warning sign. The question is
whether he CAN restrain himself.
Challenge
Holy shit at voting out a pair. This is interesting because I
don't think there's any middle-middle pairing and that means
there's going to be blood tonight one way or the other. I need
to check the pairs again to see who I think is most likely to be
on the block.
Rizzo and Emily on the block is likely
Cirie has automatic immunity. Off on a journey - interesting
that she doesn't get to watch the competition either.
Devins and Aubry are my bet for who is actually getting voted
out. I don't think they'll go after Coach with Chrissy as his
partner.
Unless they decide to go after a strong pair and make a
pre-emptive move and then I think Stephenie and Ozzy are in
trouble. And they might be willing to sacrifice Joe to get Tiff.
Those are conversations that I think will happen but not get
acted on.
Hmmmm. I wonder if an immunity idol would save a pair tonight or
just one half of the pair.
Well... Okay, I'm early because most of those are in the running
for immunity. lol. Guess I should wait until that's settled
before continuing to try and guess.
I think I'd like to see Joe and Tiff win immunity. Of those 3
pairs, I think they're in the most trouble.
Yes! I am happy about that. Especially because it's going to
force some other conversations about who is in trouble.
Interesting. Yes, Idol protects a pair. Too bad for Aubry that
she flushed hers last tribal.
Even MORE interesting that a shot in the dark covers both.
The fact that they're voting individually and not as pairs...
but almost everyone paired up with someone from a "middle"
player or not in their alliance is going to make that
interesting.

Journey
Wow. They really set that up with the pressure. Not just vote or
no vote - whether you get to even go to tribal, be back at camp
to see and be part of the conversations? Man... that's a lot of
coconuts....
She found it! Yay! I go back and forth on Cirie, but there's
almost no player that I'd want to see fail that.
Back at camp
Hmmm how long will it take for the convos to start...
about 3 seconds.
I agree with Christian's evaluation of his odds.
Emily... isn't wrong. But she probably should not have been the
one to raise it.
Aubry and Devins are fully aware of the danger they're in.
Joe & Tiff talking. Tiff is such a smart player strategically.
Chrissy is making such a massive mistake. She "decided" he was
going to spend the day in the hammock? That vibe is all it takes
to set Coach off and push him to decide he's got to be in charge
he's not following orders. He can be worked with. He cannot be
given orders. She might push him to the point where he goes off
and they're on the block.
And looking for a shield... she might be working too hard after
telling Coach to stand down.
And there it is. Coach and Chrissy are in serious trouble.
Joe is missing the big picture. Big time. He usually doesn't
make that mistake but he's fallen for thinking he that Coach is
solid for him. Buddy, Coach isn't solid for ANYBODY.
I think I had forgotten how much trouble Chrissy was in early in
the game when people were over her "camp mom" thing.
Tribal
Coach is way too happy looking at Dee being on the Jury.
OMG. Jeff going hard on pushing them to think about what the 2
for 1 deal means. Producers did a good job of shaking the game
up with this even if some of the effects don't play out until
later.
Coach talking... hmmm. Almost screwed up but brought that back
around.
lol. Devins grabbing the fake idol. He played that very very
VERY well.
Joe just gave Tiff the go ahead to vote for Coach even if he
won't do it himself. That's... interesting.
Interesting that some people are betting on Devins not playing
that "idol".
Everyone looking at Devins to play that idol.
Holy shit! Okay, I just got to the part where I am sure you
gasped out loud too. Coach knew enough to play his shot in the
dark.
Boom, they got them! I am not mad at that result. :D
I generally like Chrissy but not as much as I like having Coach
out and the change of dynamics.
Whelp, he gets to go sit on the jury with Dee now. You know she
is salivating over that. I am happy she gets to have that.

LOL! Isn't it wild?!
Devins did great. He even had a cover story for why he
didn't use it.
I never doubted that C & C were in trouble. But I didn't really
care for Chrissy, and I think s/he rubs others on the tribe the
wrong way. So, I wasn't surprised that it was an easy choice
while it was practically handed to them.
So I think you only have one more episode to be caught up. This
is based on that one - Ep 9 4/22.
My beef with the twist
I'm really not happy with so many of the twists being
determined solely by luck. Tonight's seemed especially unfair.
Requiring that a big reveal be read out loud to the whole tribe
gives the loser no chance to use cunning, strategy or social
connection to dodge the bullet. That seems counter to the
proposition that the winner is there from some combination of
strength, strategy, or social game. Boo to the idea that none of
those skills count at all.
Consequences of last week's vote
Having two members of the strongman coalition (Coach,
Joe, "Ozzy", Jonathan, Stephanie - I think Chrissy though she is
more of a hanger on than a contributor IMO) has had a
devastating effect on them. I have Ozzy in quotes, because he
really is tight with Cirie and is using Jonathan mostly to
gather information or sway opinion, and let's be honest, to play
both sides if it becomes necessary. But mostly the former. He
would only turn on Cirie if he was circling the drain. But I
don't see what that group has to offer him now that it's been
diminished. None of them are very good strategists and their
social game has mostly relied upon their own group, which limits
their ability to form new allies that are real and lasting.
Joe has seen the light and went running to Cirie, which gives
her another number.
Despite my complaints, this season has me more animated than
usual and more interested in digging into some of the underlying
strategy. So, I listed out how people voted and tried to figure
out why they did what they did - sometimes hard because editing
often leaves out conversations that would make the tribal too
predictable.
My theory on favorites to win
Cirie is handling this huge challenge of so many
people and so many of the weird twists with a lot of skill.
After so many close calls in past seasons, I think she has a
strong chance to win the jury's respect. The big unknown is what
other twists will be popping up. As I noted above, no matter how
well she handles the game handed to her, there is still a good
chance that some dumb twist will knock her out.
I would love to see her win. I like Tiffany a lot too, and if
it's not Cirie then Tiffany would be my next pick. With Cirie’s
game and the lack of obvious bad blood there is little to trip
her up. Up to now anyway. That would make her hard to beat. But
Tiffany has some chance to do so. She has a good social and
physical game, and the skills to articulate them to the jury.
I don’t see anyone else that comes close. Well, maybe Rizzo? But
I have doubts about how well he could articulate a coherent
narrative out of a somewhat chaotic approach to his game. Still
I think he has the next best chance, because I think he has more
allies than, say, Aubry. Strike that – people that like him. He
only has allies that are actually Cirie’s allies. Joe is a
likeable guy, but that’s not enough by itself, and he doesn’t
have much story to tell. That’s pretty much true of all the rest
– thin stories and/or not a persuasive storyteller. That says to
me that Tiffany is not one that Cirie wants in the final three
with her.
I think her best bets are Joe and, oddly enough, Ozzy. IIRC Ozzy
has ticked off a few people. And Cirie has been directing him a
lot. (I’m pretty sure she was involved in the decision about who
he voted for in this episode.) So, her narrative for both of
those two is that she saved both of them and was the top of that
hierarchy. I don’t think they could overcome the story she could
lay out.
Whew. Told you I’m animated this season.

Post Tribal:
Devins has a great cover story for why he didn't play it.
Devins evaluation is correct: He was in a lot more trouble
before the whole idol shenanigans. He managed to survive one
more night, and in this game, it's all about surviving to the
next day. Obviously as long as you don't go too far overboard.
But he didn't paint a target on himself with that. He already
HAD a target on him and he shifted it to the side for now.
Emily... REALLY does not get that. Which makes me side-eye her
political/social awareness.
Stephenie being so upset about that... oh, did you think you
were going to run the game to the end? Sorry. You're not paying
enough attention if you think any group has EVER run anything to
the end, and you should have been expecting people to want to
break up that bloc.
Cirie needs to be careful. She's known for that kind of working
with everybody, and people who do that kind of "working with
everybody" tend to get put on blast and sent home for it.
Jonathon in that same position of having thought they were going
to run the game to the end. At least he recognizes that he needs
to switch strategy vs "i'll play nice and then slit all their
throats".
Aubry doing a nice job of connecting with Jonathon. Looks like
she's concerned with her resume too. I wouldn't be as concerned
about the resume on this season. They've all done enough. Even
if that is "I chose to pair up with X for that challenge"
Joe talking to Devins.... Devins calling that correctly. Joe
does not get to be upset about Devins calling him on his
bullshit and not pretending that he fell for it.
Christian & Jonathon - the shot in the dark is only a 1 in 6
chance anyway. It's been played 3 times this season and not once
has the person been safe? Christian's not taking that much of a
risk and Jonathon as taking that as a guarantee when he's still
gotta get the others to vote with him and after last night he
should no way no how be thinking that he's got a lock on that.
Next morning
lol Cirie is not going after Ozzy. Cirie is really great at
laying back and not revealing her true loyalties/alliances.
Well... so much for Jonathon not being able to whip votes for
Christian, Christian is doing it himself. lol.

Immunity Challenge:
I actually really dislike this setup for a challenge like this.
One thing to recognize the difference in pre-game body weight,
but people haven't had as much control over how much they've
lost as others have and that's a serious disadvantage to some
people. Whether it's smaller players who have lost so much that
they are really weak comparatively now, or smaller players who
haven't lost as much because they didn't HAVE as much to lose
and have a lighter weight to manage.
Probst putting himself into a Challenge and having to go through
it! I love it.
He does have the one advantage in that he's watched every one of
these challenges and has seen what's worked and what hasn't for
people in general.
They are having SO much fun yelling his lines back at him.
I think Ozzy may have dropped to keep his threat level down
after Jeff made such a big deal of his almost tying the record
for individual immunity wins.
Ozzy made a mistake with Rock Paper Scissors - he went rock both
times. Christian switched. Switching gaving him the better odds
of tying or beating.

Back at camp
Tiff talking Devins - I'm not actually clear on whether she's
just trying to flush his idol or being real with him. I think
more likely trying to flush it.
Emily sure seems to be enjoying that rice that she was concerned
about how much was being made. I don't like that Cirie was so
dictatorial about it and I think she made a mistake in not
letting Emily have her say and working through it to do the
exact thing they were going to do anyway.
Jonathon working overtime on whipping votes against Christian.
He does seem to be being relatively calm about it, but not sure
if he's in the "doing too much" territory.
Journey
I don't think he's gonna make it.
But also... this is just WAYYYYYY too early to know what you
want to do in terms of a vote in the urn. It locks you into a
plan that you then have to go try and get people on board with
because you've already committed to it. Or you've got to have
tossed your vote and lost it essentially.
Um. Pretty sure that was a fake shot of the puzzle in the water.
Physics wise I don't think it would have stayed as assembled as
he had it once it hit the water, so that lovely sinking shot
further underwater is nice and dramatic but tripped my willing
suspension of disbelief...
Back at camp
Holy Crap. That penalty is way too high. But I bet Ozzy's not so
upset that Christian went on the journey instead of him.
Oh look, there he is being snarky about it. I mean, I get that
he doesn't like Christian, but that is not a good look on him.
Emily painting a target on her back. But they're blaming her for
"being messy" when all of them are just as fucking messy and
trying to shift targets.
And Ozzy taking that betrayal hard and talking about how she's a
flip-flopper? Dude... you were working with Coach! What are you
talking about? I like you, but my lord the hypocrisy all over
this camp right now.
Emily is only "messy" and "chaos" and a "flipflopper" because
she's trying to come after one of the people you really want to
protect. But whatever you need to tell yourselves to eliminate
the threat that she actually is when she's trying to come for
your people. And she thought you were her people.
Tribal
Emily... you risk for reward. That is Survivor. What you're
saying right now feels great but omg. You just put an even
bigger target on your back with your self-righteousness.
This is literally called "how to make me lose the sympathy I
just had for you". And like... maybe Tiff is right about "messy"
because sit the fark back and shut up, there is no good reason
to be saying what you're saying right now publicly.
lol @ Christian "No more ideas for you". Poor guy.
Wow, I would have thought Devins wasn't going to get even one
vote.
Can't believe nobody went for Emily though after all that.
Usually the smack talk smatter talk results in at least one
vote.
Yeah, that journey really did not do Christian well, but even
more than that, it was what he was doing before he went on it.
People keep trying to go for the big threats but they go for the
well-liked big threats and end up backfiring on themselves.
