Favorite Halloween Movie?

Personally I am always up for The Witches.
But Hocus Pocus is good too, and I was reminded of this
yesterday when I found out there's gonna be a sequel:

We also love Hocus Pocus and I'm so excited to see there will be
a sequel! My 8 year old will be thrilled. We have a family
member who loves the movie so much her two cats are named Max
and Binx.
I like Beetlejuice a lot - need to rewatch that. Is Edward
Scissorhands considered a Halloween movie? What about the
Stranger Things series on Netflix - seems like the first episode
of each season begins on Halloween. Can't wait for the next
season!
I'm not one for scary movies but Rick loves them.

DEFINITELY not for children. Let the Right One In, the Swedish
original. Really creepy.

We try to do the Science Fiction Double Feature film fest each
year in October. All the movies tagged in the Opening Song of
the Rocky Horror Picture Show:
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Flash Gordon
The Invisible Man
King Kong
It Came From Outer Space
Dr X
The Human Duplicators (Androids, Fighting)
Forbidden Planet
Tarantula
Day of the Triffids
Night of the Demon
When Worlds Collide
Nope, they're not really horror (well, not all of them), but
they're what we do.

I'm a bit of a purist so
Halloween (always watch during trick-or-treating)
Halloween II
Halloween (2018) was decent, not spectacular. Its sequel,
Halloween Kills, is due out October 15.
Love all the usual slasher movies, Friday the 13th etc. The Fog
is not bad, and some of the oldies like Prom Night, Terror Train
and My Bloody Valentine (serial killer on the loose in a
coal-mining community). Child's Play entertaining.
When a Stranger Calls, the old one with Carol Kane and Colleen
Dewhurst, always entertains. Hocus Pocus is
Watched an anthology called Trick r' Treat that had great
aesthetics, and started out OK. I think it got boring. Along
those lines Creepshow is good with the Crypt Keeper.
An indie film produced a few years ago, Scream Park, is an
homage to the early '80s slasher films, set in an amusement
park. Enjoyed it; I think it's free or cheap on Amazon Prime.
There was a streaming series several years ago called Slasher
(not to be confused with the newer Slasher: Flesh and Blood)
starring someone named Katie McGrath, it has a nice aesthetic
and some very horrific moments that have stuck with me ever
since.
The Omen, the Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, Audrey Rose, The
Mephisto Waltz are creepy without being cartoony. Oh, and Don't
Look Now with Donald Sutherland, based on a Daphne Du Maurier
story is a must-see. Moodily and memorably shot on location in
Venice. Let's Scare Jessica to Death (not what you'd expect,
interesting) and good old Burnt Offerings are amusing
throwbacks.
For those who like eerie stories around the fire pit or while
lounging on a blustery night, consider old-time radio dramas.
Shows like Light's Out, The Hermit's Cave, The Mysterious
Traveler, Suspense, Escape, have some suprisingly spine-tingling
episodes that are enjoyable listening. Many of those shows were
written by famous mystery, movie and theater writers of the day,
and voiced by famous actors.
Lots of episodes on YouTube, or you can get many, many hours of
the shows for a single credit on Amazon/Audible.
Here is a list of episodes; many similar articles and blog posts
out there.

A movie that came out a couple of years ago called Sinister was
among the creepiest in my recent experience; rather wish I
hadn't seen it. The Invitation was intriguing but wouldn't
watch again. The Others with Nicole Kidman is rather chilling
at parts.

I have not yet watched Stranger Things and by all accounts I
need to!
I am a wimp, I can't do horror/slasher movies, but I like
mystery/thrill/campy stuff for HW and other purposes.
I wouldn't consider Edward Scissorhands Halloween... but that
reminds me...
Oooh! Nightmare Before Xmas!

I sang along with your list. I did not know the Dana Andrews'
