The LOTR movies. Masterpieces all, but "Return of the King"
       if I had to pick.
Christopher Nolan films, any of them. The Batman trilogy,
       Momento, Inception, Dunkirk, Insomnia......sigh. :)
       Silver Linings Playbook.
       Captain Fantastic, with Viggo Mortensen
Comfort movies when the world is harsh? Nancy Meyers films:
It's Complicated, or The Intern. And "The Secret Life of Walter
Mitty", Ben Stiller/Sean Penn version, just to see Iceland.
       The HP films

Geez, I forgot about Nolan! I love his movies too. As much as
I love Tim Burton movies and Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson
(hell, Burton's was THE Batman for my generation for a long
time), Nolan's Batman is my favorite Batman.

Momento is such a great movie. That is one you need to start out
       watching over and over.

I just checked out the trailer. I don't know how I missed that
one. It's on my watchlist now.

Watched The Princess Bride last night for the first time.
I will definitely be watching it again and again (though I was
sad they killed Wallace Shawn off so early, even if he deserved
       it.)
       Thanks everyone!

Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.
I don't like the other two very much.

I admit I chuckle at the "alphabet problem" in this film,
because they get it not just wrong, but *exactly* wrong.
Classical Latin uses "I" as both a consonant (yuh) and a vowel
(i), just as it used "U" (round bottom or pointy, but
consistent) as both a consonant (wuh) and a vowel (u). Medieval
Latin invented "J" and "V" (pointy bottom used simultaneously
with round) and later "W," (whose name you now understand) to
specify the consonant for each, and to differentiate them from
       the vowels.
Long story short: Latin written while the empire still existed
would write "IHUH" (and *maybe* you get vowels with it, given
that it's transliterated Hebrew) but if you're presented with
"J" as an option, you need to pick the "J."

Just about any Mel Brooks movie.
The Fellowship of the Ring (once we get past all the character
development and into the big splashy fights of the other two
movies I kind of lose interest, though I do watch them over,
       just not so often).
       Singin' in the Rain
       An American in Paris
       Brigadoon
       Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
       Casablanca
The various Raiders of the Lost Ark movies
       Princess Bride
       Stardust
       The Sound of Music
Annie (when my husband's not home. The version with Carol
       Burnett and Tim Curry)
       Ladyhawk
Any of the Fred Astaire movies that are not disaster flicks (so
       no, not The Towering Inferno)
