Thanks for your input so far.
My first selection for a movie I’ve never seen is The Princess
Bride. This led me to IMDB where I noticed a link to the top 250
movies by user rating.
HTML https://m.imdb.com/chart/top?ref_=tt_awd
I think I’ll stay on the happy side of films for now.
As you wish.
(that will make a lot more sense in the near future. ;) )
Oh, no! I don’t want to limit contributions! Just saying why I
picked the Princess Bride.

Oh no! I totally understood that when you said your "first"
selection. Trust me, as soon as you watch the movie, you'll get
why I said it.
In other news, from the well done but not funny side of my
brain's list, I have:
Shawshank Redemption
The Usual Suspects
They have some aspects that may make you want to curse at the
screen, but neither of them is depressing.

Shawshank Redemption is #1 on IMDB. But I thought it would be a
downer.

Really no. The ending is a winner and a half. There are some
depressing moments, but they're not what rules the movie.

There are several movies on that list I will never ever watch
again even though they were excellent. Silence of the Lambs and
Schindler's List are right at the top.

Same. I'd add Pan's Labyrinth and Parasite, two movies I loved,
to your list.

Fleabag.
(Not a movie, but still.)
Especially any scene with The Hot Priest, especially the last
scene of the final episode.
