Just heard from the shelter. Susie is out of surgery and doing
well. They did find and remove a polyp.
They're keeping her overnight for medication and observation,
and I will probably pick her up tomorrow after work. They said
that someone is there in the medical side 24/7 (makes sense -
they have animals to take care of!) and they'll work with me to
arrange the after-hours pick up, give me the care instructions
and medication.
Meanwhile, she's had enough of being contained in the guest
bedroom and has been trying to slip out when I leave the room.
I've had to grab her more than once and put her back in.
Hopefully we'll be able to do the introductions soon, maybe in a
couple days, and then let her have free run of the house-if Mia
agrees. 😁 Mia did run away from the carrier this morning
when I was bringing Susie down, but there was no hissing
involved.
I tell ya, a lot of people put this shelter down, write on
social media that it's a kill shelter when it's not, and this is
one example of how far they'll go to take care of the animals.
They could easily have said "she's sick, surgery is expensive so
we'll just put her down, there are plenty of other cats around,"
but they didn't. They had me bring her right in when I said
there was a problem, sent us on to the emergency vet
immediately, and then arranged for the surgery as soon as
possible. I should bake some cookies for them. 😊

Hoping Susie continues to do well and that Mia only ran from the
carrier because she thought she might be the one it was for.

If I adopted every cat I've loved, I'd have hundreds!

Yes! She ate, used her litter, got underfoot, got one dose of
meds. I need to give her a pill once a day for 5 days and a
liquid twice a day.
Her breathing is so much better! I’m waiting for her to come up
on the bed so I can brush her and snuggle.

It is one of their best tunes. I love CCRs early music.
Great tribute to a deserving kitty 😺

Ha! I’ve called her Susie Q.
I also think of this song: Everly Brothers, Wake up Little
Susie.

She had a very quiet night. No sneezing, snorting or snoring.
Ate and drank heartily. Didn’t like getting the meds-a liquid
and a pill, but I prevailed.
She’s also a major trip hazard. Likes to wind herself around our
feet. Have to be careful!
Sorry. No new pics.
