I love all of the traditional xmas songs that we grew up with so
here's my very fave that's a little off the beaten tracks.
It sounds exactly like snow and cold and wintertime to me and
       Chrissie Hynde's voice is sublime.

A nice piece by Niall, who writes the Recording Studios of

behind Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas.

sadly i thought i'd be able to remember them without writing
them down: i was very wrong.
but since i learned my lesson & started an actual list a couple
       months ago, we have:
       chinwag

       bobbins

the search function in this site is absolute crap trust me.
finding something even in the not too distant past is needle

I just love the harmony on this.

I was a big Monkees fan back in the day. I don't recall ever
hearing this kind of harmony from them. But as a teenager I
might not have appreciated that as much as their other music.
       [/quote]
Big Monkees fan here too. I actually liked them better than The
Beatles! Probably helped that I could see them on TV every week.
       Had never heard this clip.
They were more talented than a lot of people gave them credit
       for. IMO.

I don’t even try to name favorites. As soon as I mention a
couple then some others pop up on the radio.

This has been my favorite for many decades. I believe it was
       also my FIL's favorite.
It's not the words I love so much, it is the E minor key, which
I think is so beautiful and haunting.

That song is so interesting to me, the lyrics express (to me) a
longing for something that they hope for but think will never
come. Or it's just the effect of the minor key on me
