       Mystery neighbor

So two days ago Supermutt was terrified by a strange sound a
little before 4 am. I hauled him in and went outside to feed the
girls and heard it myself. It was a bit unnerving. I video
recorded (only way to record tge sound) and went looking too. It
sounded goose-like but in the trees. Shone the flashlight around
to see if I could spot it (sorry human neighbors if I disturbed
       your sleep!).
Whimsy listened and did some digging.
We think our new neighbor is a raven! I hope the raven returns,
but as we have resident owls, hawks and even a bunch or vultures
that like to roost on our property, probably not.
But it was so cool, once I knew it wasn't an injured bird, of
       course.

So cool! I love ravens! They are so intelligent and
       fascinating.
Cornell has the Merlin Bird ID if you are interested in
identifying the sounds you heard. It's fantastic.

I downloaded the BirdNet app, later that day. Now, I wait.

I usually forget I have the Merlin app but just used it a couple
days ago to identify some birds that were all over the parking
lot of a Travel Plaza where we stopped for gas and some food in
       Oklahoma.
It's fun to be able to identify them when I'm away from my
       familiar ones.

Can you share what they were? :)

       Great-tailed Grackles
We have Grackles but they don't have the long tail. And the
females resembled a robin if the breat was sort of brown rather
       than red.
