The worst? Ever? I don't remember the name of it. My dad took
me to see it when I was in high school and we never spoke of it,
so I have no idea why. I wasn't even close to dating at the
time. It was a propaganda film trying to convince those horny
teenagers to remain celibate, because horrible things happen if
you have sex. A relatively responsible teen couple, using
condoms and everything, nevertheless produced a pregancy. The
girl was too horrified and broke to seek prenatal care, and was
found bleeding all over the bed by her parent? or landlady?
anyway, she died. So the film was horrible to watch, and bad
things can happen but aren't really that likely, and bad things
can happen even if the sex is postponed until after marriage.
And the film certainly convinced absolutely no one to wait
before having sex.
That is awful. I’m so sorry that happened to you. Virtual hugs
if you want them. And virtual chocolate.
Thanks. As I said, it was a long time ago. Mostly I wonder
what my dad was thinking. Did he imagine I was getting a lot of
action that I never told him about, even though I was home all
the time? Did he have no idea what the film was before he took
me to it? Ah, well, it's too late to ask him now so I'll never
know.

How could I forget?
I may be in the minority here, and the books may be much better
than the movies (I haven't read them), but the 50 Shades of Grey
trilogy had terrible scripts and incredibly silly dialogue. I
only got all the way through the first movie. I could not sit
through the other two and gave up on them in the first half
hour. Those movies seemed like an ever so slightly more mature
version of the Twilight movies.

I seem to recall reading that the books evolved out of Twilight
"erotic" fanfic, so that tracks.

That really cracks me up. I had no idea there was a connection
between the two.

A friend and I are both pretty voracious readers, so when these
came out we jokingly bet each other as to who could finish this
awful trilogy first.
Neither of us got through the first book.

Oh yes! I had forgotten about that. There was an entire online
subculture dedicated to various versions of Twilight erotic
fanfic. And then boom, this chick gets published and is now
financially set for life from it.
I guess sometimes loving young adult fiction but also having a
dirty mind paid off for her. :)
The books were not better than the movie, they were equally
terrible and I was in a terrible marriage at the time so I read
them.

Eat, Pray, Love
Hated the book, hated the movie more
I feel like Julia Roberts had a lot of just cloyingly sappy
movies for a while. They are all the same movie and they all
suck.
The book is more properly titled "Eat, PREY, Love". The author
is an appalling human being and has admitted to it in writing.
People still lap her verbal diarrhea up though. No idea why.
"Bridges of Madison County" - horrible book. Suspect the movie
is too but I refuse to even entertain the idea of watching it
ever.
I love finding like minded folks on here! She really is an
appalling human and that she was celebrated for it through that
book was just gross to me.
Bridges of Madison County was a very sappy movie, as much as I
love Meryl Streep. I think it resonated with people who wanted
hope of finding passionate love in the 2nd chapter of life. And
I certainly can't find any fault with that.
Sappy movie, sappy assessment lol

I was interested in the concept of those books, but saw enough
about how they were written to decide that I wanted to preserve
my brain cells and skipped them. It's a rare movie that can
overcome being based on a lousy (even if popular) book, so yeah,
not watching those either, even if I am interested in seeing
what kind of an acting job Dakota Johnson can pull off.
Apparently she has more of an acting history than I was aware of
according to IMDB, but none of those movies look like stuff I
want to watch.

Also adding to this list: 12 Monkeys. Not as bad as Miami Vice,
I made it to the end of it. Barely. Maybe would not have if not
in a movie theater with friends. It had only one redeeming
feature, and it wasn't the plot, the script, or the acting.

I was going to watch that because I liked the tv series, but it
sounds like I might as well pass on that.
