Ok. Speaking of food, I'm gonna make a Costco run.
See ya later!
Oh, and dinner tonight will be chicken with oregano. Thinking
of modifying a shrimp oreganata recipe that I copied and
substituting chicken instead. We had shrimp with scallions,
cashews and broccoli last night. Used scallions from the garden,
want to use some of my oregano.

Another cousin story.
Took another turn at hosting Thanksgiving. All went well, of
course. During dessert, my cousin made one of his
funny/obnoxious/funny comments.
So to be equally obnoxious, I tossed a cookie (a real baked
cookie) at him. I thought it would gently sail over his head,
land on the floor and the dog would make it disappear in
seconds.
But no. The cookie hit him right between the eyes, right above
the bridge of his glasses, and, um, drew blood.
I couldn't have hit him there had I tried, and I assure you, I
did not try. It's a good thing they love those cookies. And me.

_Fearsome_ aim.

And now I'm reminded that ACL is a skilled volleyball player. So
I am alleging unreliable narration on the "couldn't have hit him
there had I tried." 😘

Ok. The story that comes to mind for me is making dinner for a
dinner party.
I'd invited maybe half a dozen people for a goodbye dinner as I
was getting ready to leave the city.
Now I am not a good cook. But I at various times have had a few
party pieces. This was a stew with coconut milk. I think it
may have come from my roommates New Internationalist cookbook.
Easy. Tried and true.
Except that, I couldn't get canned beans, just dried (I was
volunteering abroad at the time and had only made the dish at
home).
I did figure I should soak the chick peas. For maybe an hour or
so.
These little pellets....they would not cook! Remember one of
the women I knew least well at the dinner coming to help me. We
eventually, hours later, decided it was good enough and served
it. Luckily no teeth were damaged. The broth was good anyway.

Hmm, I question the edibility of any cookie that can leave a
flesh wound.

Ha! Apparently it's all in the angle and the velocity.

I apparently have pressure cookers on the mind today … but this
one is apropos for what I’m doing at the moment: canning.
Anyway, I’d spent all damn day pressure canning quarts of tomato
sauce. It was getting late. I just wanted to be DONE.
I’m lounging on the couch waiting for that last canning run to
depressurize, so I can move the canner off the stove and spouse
can make us an omelette for dinner.
Spouse is in the kitchen prepping veg for our omelet.
I hear a big woosh, then popping.
Then “do you love me?”
Yep. Spouse had quickly depressurized the canner. I lost 5 of 8
jars 😠😠😠😠
Since then, if spouse comes toward the canner while it’s
depressurizing, I ward them off with the walnut rolling pin
🤣
