Well, I have learned lesson #1 of scheduling a hoot. Check with
your fellow mods when they will be available. lol.
Everyone else is basically busy on Sunday, so this will start as
scheduled, but if you want to submit something but don't want it
to post under your name, pm it to me, and I will post it during
the hoot (can send to me ahead of time or during the hoot).
I will be actively available for 2 hours (so 1-3 pm), and
possibly longer depending on how active this is at that time.
Looking forward to having some fun with this!

What makes a story a Hoot? Does it just have to be funny?

Funny, stupid, aggravating, obnoxious, dumb, memorable: any/all
of those.
Hint: Just like the stuff we routinely sling around this gin
joint every single day !

Starting us off here.
When my kids were in their teens, I was working on perfecting a
pancake recipe for my husband's preferred taste. So we had lots
of pancakes, and I started playing around in other ways... hey,
why not, right? So I started making shapes with the pancakes. I
had fun figuring out what I could make.
Well, being the immature brat that I am, one day, I um. Made a
phallic shaped pancake. My son vociferously protested when it
was placed in front of him and told me quite loudly that he was
not going to "Eat a dick".
Yeah, okay, that one was probably my bad. It's also family
legend so I don't feel too bad about it a decade later? And when
I say family legend you guys are the first people outside the 4
of us to know about it.

At leasst it was intentional. My kid loved number pancakes, and
many of my "1"s were questionable.

Mine is cringeworthy. I made it rain in the kitchen.
Somehow, I mis-remmebered something and thought it was OK to put
Pyrex directly on the flame. I don't remmeber what I was trying
to cook (it was over 30 years ago), but I left a bowl of water
on the stovetop and left the room.
There was an explosion, and when we went in to check, there was
a cloud near the ceiling. It started to rain.
We lived there about 4 years, and were still finding shards of
Pyrex when we moved out.
If anyone has a kitchen mishap, "At least it's not raining."

My mother was really good at making pancake critters -- I
remember her making recognizable (and cute) rabbits and snowmen.
I am really good at making shapeless blobs that are rather
alarming in outline.
