Best Burger Place

What chain has the best burger?
I have two categories. One is regional chain then which of the
fast food places is best.
I'm going with Smashburger for the regional chain. That burger
is so damn good. The bread they use is good as well. American
cheese...yum.
Fast food--I'm going Wendy's. It has the best flavor.

regional chain - Shake Shack.
national chain - I have zero opinions on this, but I think my
husband is a Wendy's guy who has converted to a Five Guys guy.
I almost went Five Guys but I don't think they are fast
food. You need a drive-through. They make a damn good burger
though.

I know I should check my privilege, but I haven't had a fast
food burger in so long I could not rank them.
There is a shack of a place kinda nearby that was on guy fieri's
show called paradise pup that makes an amazing cheeseburger
{merkt's cheddar, sofa king good), so if we are going to have
burgers, we go there.
I slum it for mcdonald's breakfast, or popeye's chicken, but not
burgers.

Same for us, the last time I had fast food was stopping on our
drive for vacation. And that was to get the Popeyes chicken
sandwich which was really good.

There is an extremely local "chain" here (two stores so far)
called The Fix and it is wildly popular with the youngsters. No
lie, I get intense stomach pain when I eat there because their
burgers are so huge and rich and are covered with sinful
fixin's. I do OK if I go with a classic like a cheddar
cheeseburger and get a salad instead of fries. Is Dairy Queen a
regional or national chain?
Fast food in general is so bad I try to avoid it. I think
Burger King has a slight edge over McD's and I don't care for
the Wendy's burgers at all. Not a Five Guys fan but if I had to
I'd choose that over the drive thru options.
Oldest tried In and Out when he visited the west coast and said
it wasn't any better than the options available here.

I think Culver’s qualifies as a local chain. I like their
burgers for fast food and their onion rings are better than
most.
Most overrated burger: Red Robin.
Yup, we never go there--and they even have unlimited
fries and we still don't go!

I'm calling In and Out as local, as I think they're only on the
west coast, and Arizona (IIRC)
What I like best about them is their meat is never frozen, the
fries were whole potatoes 30 minutes before they became your
fries. If you get a chance to visit, ask about their unpublished
menu. Protein style has no bun and is wrapped in lettuce. Animal
style fries have cheese melted on top (and maybe grilled
onions?) I don't know what else is on their unpublished menu,
but it's definitely a thing.
And that is my contribution for both categories, as I haven't
been to a BK, McDs, Wendy's since In and Out came to town :-)
Just an FYI, 5 Guys advertises similar to In and Out, Fresh,
never frozen, etc. I haven't tried them because they are way
more expensive than I&O.
