Myanmar earthquake

It sounds pretty bad. Epicenter was very close to Mandalay, the
second largest city. Information is still low, but modeling
indicates the possibility of 10,000 deaths.
It is a bit of a shock that the quake appears to have been
responsible for the collapse of a building under construction in
Bangkok, more than 600 miles away from Mandalay. A map
indicates a very long region of high severity stretching mostly
south of Mandalay, apparently along a fault line. The palest
yellow indicates the range of shaking equivalent to a nearby
4.0. (Image copied from NYTimes). I think Bangkok has a lot of
fill, so maybe unstable ground magnified the effect.

I heard it was a shallow earthquake. I know little about
earthquakes but wondered if being shallow could mean it spread
further.
This is something the ordinary people of Myanmar don’t need.
