I've never read the book. Should I?
DC is hyped for the movie, wants to see it on a big screen, but
is leery of sitting in a crowd. So...we rented out a theater!
The guest list is short and everyone on it is vaccinated. It
wasn't nearly as expensive as I thought it would be either!

I can't wait for that movie to come out! We sprang for a giant
TV for our living room this summer so we will be watching at
home. But I sure do miss going to the movies. That popcorn.
It's a great idea to rent out the theater! I think they are
desperate to generate income right now.

We just got a nice soundbar from cc points, which fits right
under the big monitor. We're enjoying it a lot, especially the
Clear Voice feature.

A good friend has recommended the new film; we will likely see
it at home at some point.
Also, do not google "Bad Dragon Ledo."

Hi! I don't usually go on the internet on Shabbat, but things
have been weird lately so here I am!
Dune is TONIGHT at 7 pm!!!!! It looks like we're going to have a
crowd of 8, including us, all much nerdier than I - I think I'm
the only one who hasn't read the books and/or seen the 70s
movie.
I'll give a full report either tonight or tomorrow, promise!
(Also, I googled Bad Dragon Ledo. But I knew what I was getting
into, because I was already familiar with Bad Dragon as a
company. They've been a meme since before we were using the word
"meme" to describe memes.)

I confess I have enjoyed viewing their April Fool's offering for
a number of years. (The Brick, The Fire Hydrant, The Ultimate
Fantasy [i.e., not a monster])

Enjoy the movie!
I'm a "read the book first" person.
But I read Dune back in college, something like 40 years ago so,
ya know, I don't recall a lot of details.
I do know, though, that when the first movie came out, I had a
better idea of what was going on than did my colleague, who
hadn't read it. (Afterwards, he kept asking, "What do the sand
worms have to do with melange?" I wouldn't tell him.
😄😄)
I undertook to read the entire series, but had to give it up
several books in, when some of the stuff just got too
unbelievable.
(Something of a spoiler alert, in case you plan to read like
five books in the series: What killed it for me was when a baby
was born and started talking about very grown subjects in
something like a day or two after birth. Uh, just no.)

Now, his onscreen dad on the other hand? DROOL.
(Oscar Isaac for those playing along at home)

Thump-THUMP. Thump-THUMP. Yes, that's my heart pattering away;
Mr Isaac is indeed swoon-worthy. :)

I listen to podcasts when I walk & today I came across an
interview with none other than the swoon-worthy Oscar Issac.
Granted, until I came across his groupies here, I'd never heard
of him before.
But, I trust ya'all's opinions on such things, so I bookmarked
Mr Issac's interview for tomorrow's walk. ;)
