For the record, if you call WaPo before your subscription
expires and ask for a promotional rate or if they have other
discounts, they have (historically) granted it. I generally pay
about $40 a year. Sometimes it's been as low as $19, but that
was before 2020. I've never paid full price.
The phone number is 202-334-6100.
When I canceled my subscription they immediately offered a much
lower rate.
Also, just an FYI to Lab, I don't do PayPal but send cash to Ani
directly with zelle. I know some people are reluctant to use it.
I signed up for it with my bank and I only send money to people
I know and I send it from my bank. Not through email.
See? This is what 'm talking about. I don't even know the
difference between Paypal and Zelle.

You're about to get schooled on modern tech.
However, it won't be from me. Someone else want to step in here?

Here's how i figured out zelle.
On the sign in screen for my online banking app there's an icon
for it and I clicked, signed up in 30 seconds and was free to
disperse all my money with someone's e-mail or phone number.
Funny I only know how it works the one way.

Hell I figured out how to set up Zelle for the HOA so people
could send their dues.
If I can do it you can.
(I also occasionally use Venmo.)

I haven't used PayPal in a very long time and I think I deleted
my account when I got mad at them for something. Or maybe I
disagreed with their business practices. So I don't remember if
it's free. Venmo costs you extra, so I don't use that.
Zelle is a feature I use with my bank. I don't use my banks app,
just the website. If you don't see it on your banks website when
you log into your account, you can ask them if they support it.
All I need is a phone number or email address to send money.
A few months ago we had our trees trimmed and we got a "deal"
because we offered "cash." Well, the guys get done and they're
thinking we're going to hand them a wad of cash! So I told the
guy (same guy that trimmed our trees last year) I paid with
zelle last year. So the other guy says his wife has zelle and
gives me her number. Zelle recognizes her number, but it doesn't
align with the name I entered.
As with anything dealing with money, pay close attention to the
details.

When I pay someone with Venmo I don’t get charged. Same when
someone pays me. At least I don’t think so.
I was ready to quit PayPal at one point because it refused to
accept that the address where I’d lived for 30 years was a real
address. The post office and the county tax people thought it
was real but PayPal wouldn’t budge.
I hardly ever use them anyway and when we moved it was good with
the new address.

Venmo only charges you if you want to get your money immediately
instead of 3 days from now.

I've only tried using it once or twice and didn't see an option
to not pay extra for the "convenience." Maybe because I don't
have a venmo account? Not going to sign up for one anytime soon.

To be perfectly honest, the only reason I have one is because
people here wanted a way to send money other than Zelle. I
pretty much don't use it for anything else.
