I've spent the past 4 years offloading stuff with fervor —
kitchen, house, barn, nothing's safe :D Turns out my downsizing
has been well-timed — we'll be relocating for spouse's work next
year.
Anyway, the one thing I kept from spouse's occasional
fish-eating days (and my former egg obsession), is a sous vide.
I don't know what we'll do with it in the future, but at the
very least, I have a safe bucket heater for the barn
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s not practical until you’re changing ovens, but for anyone
at that phase of needing new ovens or thinking of a kitchen
remodel — we went with the monogram 5-in-1 upper which combined
our old upper + convection + microwave + toaster oven and also
proofs and for the lower we went with the monogram full size
that combines baking + convection + air fryer.
My friend suggested an updated handheld mixer rather than a
Kitchenaid stand mixer as I don’t bake much. The new handhelds
come with beaters (old school) as well as a whisk and two bread
hooks. I used it for bread this weekend and it worked well. It’s
quite compact and tucks in a drawer.
Love our vitamix. I go through phases where it’s on the counter
and times it’s in the pantry (pantry right now).

I just got a new coffee maker, and it is pretty great.

This machine makes the best drip coffee I've ever made, and I am
super fussy.
Highly recommend.

I used my mandoline the other day to make lasagna "noodles" from
zucchini and then to make my favorite slaw:

I don't use it very often but when you need a mandoline nothing
else will work as well or as quickly. Definitely one of my more
useful gadgets.

I got a mandoline for Christmas, 2020, and I haven't opened it
yet because fingers.

I was using my stick blender yet again yesterday so I thought
I'd give it a shout-out here. So easy to really emulsify a
vinaigrette or sauce.
I forbade my mom to get one though, because, zero safety
features.

Here is a testament to the power of marketing: There is a
thread in my email right now titled something like "Deals are
still going strong on air fryers." So I began to plot how to
get one and then I remembered this thread and how I DON'T WANT
ONE.
I feel like that dog in "Up": Squirrel!

Yeah. I looked into them and didn't get one. We don't do a lot
of frying. I know, it does other things too.
Well, a couple months ago Costco had a great sale on a 7qt one,
and yeah, I got it. I made a nice pork tenderloin in it. Plus
some other stuff.
