Looks interesting. It took me a while to figure out how the grid
works on the sample. So I was really slow.
I’ll give it a try on the actual puzzle a little later though.

Me, too. But I eventually figured out that if you click on the
labels under the set of cards it shows you what the other
symbols on the grid stand for.
Still, fun, and a bit of a break from just vocabulary exercises.

Most of my life, I did a lot of Dell Puzzles of various kinds
including Logic problems. So while I was figuring out the sample
puzzle, I found myself wishing I could put both negative and
positive conclusions into the grid like I could on paper. Then I
clicked a red X and discovered the Yes I could! Game changer (so
to speak.)
Nonetheless, this did prompt me to order some Dell Math and
Logic magazines. Haven't done them in a long time and maybe they
would tempt me away from my computer now and then. :)
Meanwhile, I do like the online version and will keep doing it.
I've already completed the one for today. Fun change.

Apparantly I'm very bad at these.
I know I'm missing something in terms of how to use the grid but
I can't figure out what it is.

Things I figured out. Maybe some will be what you already know,
but maybe some will help.
- If the clue makes a declarative and affirmative statement
(e.g. The tallest suspect was seen at x location) click on the
square that intersects that suspect and that location. First you
will get a red X. That means they don't go together. So, click
it again, and it will give you a green check, meaning they
belong together. In addition, it will put purple Xs under all
the other suspects for that location since only one suspect per
location or weapon is possible.
- If the clue gives a declarative negative statement, then leave
the box at the red X.
- Side note: At first I was going back and forth, because I
couldn't always remember which icon was which. Turns out that I
could hover over it, and it would tell me what it represents.
- Side note 2: I was also opening and closing the notebook every
time I want to fill in the grid. I don't know why I didn't think
to see if the smaller grid on the right side of the main page
was functional. But eventually I did, and it is.
Eventually, you will have a grid with Xs, checks, and blanks. At
this point, it's necessary to use deductive reasoning to fill in
the blanks. E.g. If suspect x has weapon y and you know that
weapon y does not belong to location z, then suspect x also
cannot belong to location z.

Thanks, I hadn't figured out the hovering. That will save me
time and patience.
And your final point is good. I did figure out the checks and
Xs. But then I'm left with a lot of empty spaces.
I'm an intuitive thinker by nature so I have to really force
myself into using deductive logic. But it's good for me to try.

This is a steep learning curve. I had to find an online site
(reddit as it turned out) to learn how to use the decoder ring,
because nothing was working.
I got the weapon right on the grid but filled out the answer
wrong. I need to be sure to double check before I submit.
But this was my fastest time even compared to the original
sample. So, I must be learning.

I accidentally happened on the way to use the decoder ring.
I'm not paying any attention to time on any game anymore. It's
one of the ways I'm reducing stress in my life.
