       Hulu

I was on the ads-supported program. Overnight they increased the
number of ads until it was like watching those obscure cable
channels with an ad every 7 minutes. So up to ads free for me!
I'm old enough to remember when cable appeared and the promise
was "we won't show ads!" Riiiight.

I've had Hulu for many years and had been happy with the ads
because they were so few. I thought I was imagining the
increase; I guess not. I watch Hulu the most, so I may upgrade
       also.

They increased the price of the ad free tier just now but it's
pretty minimal I think. I reluctantly cancelled mine because
some change in the platform made it incompatible with the tv and
they can't give an eta on any patches
       :(

I do ads-free Hulu with the HBO Max add-on. Worth every penny.
We share our login with the couple that generously shares their
       Netflix with us.

I tried the various kinds of services with ads and I couldn't
stand it. Hulu was one. I already have amazon and netflix plus
basic+ cable so I'm probably not gonna add anything else. My
bill is high enough as it is. Plus Tivo, which I need to cancel
because the new box wouldn't work with our system and the old
box is so slow now it's nearly unworkable.

We're still at home more than previously (what with the
pandemic), so Hulu's a must. :) Along with Netflix and Amazon.
Check out "the top 100 shows on Hulu" - it offers a lot. Plus
       live tv, which is essential.

I was using locast.org, basic cable channels. It was free if you
wanted, I donated $5 a month for it. They were shut down
recently. It's sad but I can't afford cable! At one point I had
it for $22 / month but can't get anything for less than
$70/month. Won't go into it but between trying to keep cell
phones at a manageable expense I had to cut tv.

You may already do this, but if you mean you cut tv out entirely
let me know and I can give you info on how you can get digital
broadcast tv free. That's what I do and set up for some people.
It varies by location as to whats available, but we get about 40
channels where I live (about fifteen channels before I purchased
a fifty dollar external antenna). So we get all the basic big
channels (abc, nbc, cbs) and others.
If you already know this or aren't interested just disregard it,
I only mention it because a lot of people don't realize stations
still broadcast over the air and assume paying for cable is
their only option for any tv at all.

Sure, I'm interested. I don't like not being able to watch the
nightly news live. Note that aside from streaming on my computer
I have an old tv that doesn't have any up to date functions. I
kept it as it has a built in VCR and it's fun to watch old home
movie tapes and other stuff I have on VHS only

Some of the old ones actually work better for this! If you can
post (or dm me) your make and model (its usually on a sticker on
the back. I take a picture and then zoom in to read it because
no darn way I can read the sticker itself) I'll take a look and
see if it's something you could set up. I don't watch it much
but I like being able to have the news and coffee on the
       weekends at least.
