       Are you a food-temperature purist?
By: Aardtacha Date: December 15, 2024, 5:53 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
As I eat my leftover taco from Friday night straight out of the
fridge (much to the disgust of my husband, who would insist it
be reheated) I wondered how many of you are food-temp purists?
Does your hot food have to be hot and your cold food cold? Does
the type of food make a difference? Or do you just not care?
For the purposes of our discussion, we'll assume that things
that melt at room temperature, like Popsicles and ice cream
       treats are exempted from this.

Leftover tacos can't be reheated. A Leftover hamburger can be
reheated separately from the bun and toppings.
Hot food dishes that are all hot, such as pizza or that leftover
rellano waiting to be reheated. 😁

It definitely depends on the food.
I like cold leftover roasts - chicken, beef, etc. Pizza not so
       much.
I typically save leftover taco fixings separately, so I heat the
hot stuff. Overall, I usually prefer original serving temp, I
guess. But I'm not strict about it.

I am extremely picky about temperature. I only eat leftover
pizza if it's heated in a cast iron pan until it's crisp on the
bottom and melty on top. My husband eats his cold and I
       shudder.
I dislike chicken or turkey reheated though. I will eat it cold
       or warmed by gravy.
Taco filling, I separate and reheat. But I mostly make tostados
and will reheat those like pizza.
Beef roasts (not pot roast), leg of lamb- I don't make them any
more. Because I don't like them reheated.

For me, it’s all about how well the food actually heats up. If
something is fried it has to be re-heated in the oven to
somewhat retain the crisp. Usually I eat fried food cold because
I would rather have crunchy and cold than warm and mushy.
If it is a food that contains both hot and cold elements, like a
hot sandwich with a slaw, then I usually eat it cold. Sometimes
I remove just the hot element and heat it but not usually.
Soup or pasta can be microwaved to reheat so I usually do that.
For a taco specifically, I would probably eat it cold before I
separated the filling from the topping to reheat.

It completely depends. The food, my mood, how hungry I am, how
the food would need to be reheated.

For most things, I need them to be reheated if they can possibly
       be reheated.
Some things - if they cannot be reheated and retain texture, I
may not want them at all.
Except for cold pizza. Cold pizza for breakfast is one of my
favorite things in the world to the dismay of my husband who
calls me a freak and then carefully packages leftover pizza for
me to have for breakfast. Cold.

I never knew there were fellow "cold food" fans out there!!!
I love cold pizza. When I'm having a bad day, I've been know to
order it and chill it. I taste all the toppings so much better
       when it's cold!
Most foods are better cold to me. For example, hot meatloaf is
awful; cold meatloaf sandwiches are a delight. I can take or
leave turkey as a main course, but a cold turkey sandwich
Thanksgiving night with a bit of stuffing and cranberries is
something magical to be savored that 1 night each year. I
can't think of anything that isn't elevated as a cold leftover.
       (Esp beef stew).
Well, ok: cold scrambled eggs and the memory of snitching a
bite of cold pasta Alfredo. Pukey!
Now tell me: who loves charred foods? :)

I'll eat a breaded pork chop or fried chicken right out of the
       refrigerator.
I'll microwave fried rice, and if I have some meatloaf, I'll zap
it for 20 seconds to get the edge off before I make the
       sandwich.
I don't like leftover pizza hot or cold.
I have a hard time understanding this concept: leftover taco.
Someone has to explain what that is.

I would never have a leftover taco so that's that.
I love cold chicken and turkey. Beef I generally like a little
warmed up but never in the microwave.
In general I like cold food so I'm more likely to put something
into a salad that reheat it as a meal. My favorite meals are
       cold sandwiches and salads.
I don't like leftover pizza much anyway so I'd give it to my
husband who would heat it up.
