I was all set to buy one until I saw the price.

There's also the handy wooden storage crate. Does that make the
price more appealing?
Not for me unless it’s somehow reusable and easy to store.

If the picture on the article is to be believed, it seems to be
a square box with a sliding lid. So, yeah, should be easy to
reuse or to store. But the question is moot, really, with only
700 of them available in 6 states. Unless you want to drive
over to NY to get one.

No thanks. There’s a Whole Foods about 3 blocks away. I’d
consider walking over to look at one but I’m not driving all the
way to the east coast.

Sounds like a nice flavor combo - familiar yet unique as the
article says.
Also sounds easy enough for a home baker to recreate, if
desired.

$60 for one pie?! Yikes!
I agree it's very expensive. But I like to see things like this
because it gives me ideas I could try to make at home.
Me, too. I've saved the info in my recipe manager for my
one-of-these-days lists to play with. I wish it had shown a real
photo, though. It's often helpful in cloning recipes.

Pie in the box .. I saw these wooden pie boxes in a shop years
ago. PieBox brand. I was looking for gifts. I did not buy any. I
got home and regret set in for not buying any. Called the shop
and they were sold out! Rude! ;) Got online and the company was
sold out! Then I saw another one on the same site called
CakeBox, it was double height and had two slide out trays with
holes in them so they could hold cupcakes in two layers or two
pies.. or a layer cake with the slide outs / holders removed.
Oh! I wanted those! Those were sold out too! After searching ,
I found the cake / cupcake ones on amazon and other sites and
also DIY instructions to make them. I thought, yeah they do need
a pie, cake or cupcakes to gift with them.. How cruel to give
empty boxes! LOL! I have seen several different ones now over
the years. Many are raw wood and I think nice but do you use
sandpaper to wash them!?! Hah! This year, I bought gifts for
some people on my list that Target has, another collaboration
with John Derian. ( an artist in NY, that does decoupage and
more) They did Halloween and Thanksgiving collections this
year. The Thanksgiving/ Fall John Derian collection at Target
has a double decker metal pie carrier with birds / acorns. (
knew that some here are bird lovers ) They so remind me of old
school ones that some would bring to pitch-ins / gatherings
that usually were one layer but high for cakes. With these I
thought heck pies or casseroles..cupcakes, cookies, treats.
Anything! Two layers stacked with the metal handle, knob and
latches. Some reviewers said they used theirs to store sewing /
craft items , paints, nail polishes and other things..
multi-use. I just looked and they are still available. I got
compliments from the cashier and the customer in front of me on
the carriers as I waited to check out. I plan to pick different
items such as…pies, cookies or other treats, gloves, scarves or
other items for each person’s different hobbies and interests to
put in them.

I just looked at these online. They are very cool!
And I love your idea about varying what you put inside these for
gifts.

Thanks for that info.
I will be near a Target tomorrow that has the pie carrier in
stock. Will try to check it out. I don’t make a lot of pies, but
I make apple cakes/torts that are similar in height to a pie,
and I assume cookies could be carried in the other section.
