I have no time for people whose "invitations" are actually
obligations. Also, chatter and hubby were doing the right thing
for their kids by staying home.

And then they forget so quickly. WTF Carolyn - "that's too many
excuses"?! Maybe no is a complete sentence, but when you like
someone and would have liked to see them, it's not insane to
elaborate a bit.

Nieces and nephews:
6 - 18 hours of air travel is going to make a connection more
difficult to forage.

A friend of mine has a newborn and I already forgot baby stuff.
Except how cute they are.

Those nieces and nephews probably have a bunch of other
relatives whose faces they actually recognize.

My adult relationships with my adult cousins has jack to do with
my relationship with their parents.
Any cousin-relationship-fostering is mostly over now for all but
the youngest ones.
I adore all of my nieblings but we don't chat all the time,
mostly at family stuff or when one of us has a specific
question, like "how do you make that near-orgasmic chocolate
buttercream?"

The LW kind of threw the distance in at the end.
I do think you can make solid memories with people you live far
from, but it’s just riskier and takes more effort.
