I find the calming diffusers to be helpful when there is some
sort of unusual stressor going on. She may have been having a
reaction to the vaccine, even if she's had those vaxxes before,
if they've changed the manufacturer or formula. Were you in the
room with them as they were being vaccinated? Did the vet or
tech do something a little different?
When my lot need a darkish hidey-hole I find throwing a towel
over the cat carrier (and taking the door off it) lets them feel
secure while keeping them where I can keep an eye on them.
Mojo that whatever it is wears off and everyone and everything
is back to normal tomorrow. It's scary when beloved pets can't
tell us what's wrong in a way we can understand.

Thanks all for the mojo! I talked to the vet instead of the tech
today. Lil Sis started having more episodes again late last
night and this morning. The vet said it was because of pain.
She recommended massaging the injection area with a warm towel.
Hah! I couldn't even get her to tolerate the towel laying on
her. But she spent most of the afternoon napping on my warm
laptop (work is good for something!) and seems to be much
better. She's now at the point of wanting lots of pets for
comforting and begging for particularly good people food.

Do you have a heated cat bed? I find that our lot love those
when they're feeling a bit off-color. Orion (the 17 YO) and
Scam Likely (about 6?) in particular go to them. I have them
scattered through the house so whatever room they want to be in
probably has such a bed. Failing that, can you put a heating
pad on a timer so it's not on all the time and set it on low?

Hard to explain to her that this pain is temporary. In my
       experience cats seldom listen.
I’m glad she is feeling a little better.

To be fair, even though I KNOW my migraine or toothache or
arthritis is a temporary thing, that doesn't make it any easier
to bear in the moment. And the pain must be pretty intense for
her to be vocalizing about it -- cats tend to be very stoic and
hide when they're hurting since they're both a predator and a
       prey species.

Thanks for the update. Still sending more mojo to kitty and to
       you.

Poor Little Sis. When she's more comfy, please give her a gentle
squish from her invisible internet friends.

       This got me to thinking.
I’ve been advised to massage injection sites for myself and have
even more often been told to exercise the arm a shot was given
       in to help reduce soreness.
If you can recall this next year when she gets another shot it
might help to do that rubbing right away before she gets sore
       and will tolerate it.
But I also lived with cats for most of my life and know full
well what contrary characters they can be. It’s good they have
       redeeming qualities.

I'm happy to report that all the mojo worked. She's back to
normal. She cuddled with me last night and today she wanted to
play. She's also decided she likes my husband more since he has
that nice warm bed that felt good on her sore leg.

Oh, I am so glad to hear that she is doing better! And hopefully
your husband's ability to double as a heat sink will only
       temporarily make him more popular...
