More "stuff" re: Chiles and the bronze medal:
The head of a panel that voted to rescind the Olympic bronze
medal for American gymnast Jordan Chiles has a potential
conflict of interest in the matter, The New York Times reported
Tuesday. A Romanian competitor named Ana Barbosu was ultimately
awarded the medal—creating a potential issue for Hamid G.
Gharavi, the head of the special tribunal convened by the Court
of Arbitration for Sport, who counts the Romanian government as
a client. It remains unclear what led to the panel’s decision,
with the court releasing a brief, one-page statement with the
results of their findings. Romania originally lodged their
complaint by arguing that a U.S. coach’s appeal of Chiles’
scoring came just a few seconds too late. After the panel’s
decision, Chiles was knocked to fifth place, taking away her
only solo medal of the 2024 games."

I was thinking last night that now I have to decide what to
watch instead of simply turning on Olympic prime time.
Just two years and the Winter Olympics will be held. Skating
instead of gymnastics 🤸‍♂️ . Skiing
⛷️ instead of swimming. And all those crazy sliding
sports instead of track and field.
I love it all, even curling. (That’s an inside joke. My brother
is nuts about curling 🥌. He has the official Olympic
duffel bag used by the women’s curling team two years ago. A
team member gave it to him when he made a wooden curling
decoration for her. They sometimes curl at the same club.
Different leagues. When he’s not curling he makes some pretty
intricate things out of wood and has made a lot of stuff for the
       curling club.)

The ParaOlympics are coming up soon.
       After the Democratic Convention.

As far as I know, they never have, and I'm going to guess it's
because the equipment and venues need to be modified, and they
just can't afford to build two of each venue.
       I may google it. . .
       I googled.
       Basically:
""Having the Paralympic Games just after the Olympic Games is
the most appropriate situation for the IPC.” In addition, the
logistics and costs created by organizing the two events
simultaneously without reducing the number of events or
       participants would be immense."

I guess you'd have to ask the athletes if they prefer it as is
or would like it to be joined.
Pure guess on my part, and I'm sure there isn't 100% agreement,
but I suspect most para-olympic athletes would rather have the
separate games so that results and records are not constantly
       compared.
