Categories Update

Politics
Now that the Politics category is private, we request that
political discussions be kept primarily there, even if it means
creating a new thread to continue a discussion that started on
the main Thread of the Day.
Breaking political news and discussion will obviously still
happen in the main thread (because that's where we are all
hanging out on any given day). However, we would like to
encourage people to try to limit that to extraordinary
circumstances and allow people the ability to interact without
having to delve into politics. And if they do want to delve into
politics, then the ability to have an ongoing focused discussion
that can happen over several days is better suited to a
dedicated thread on the particular subject.
Sports
I was just going to set up an Olympics thread for discussion
over the next couple of weeks... and then realized that I
couldn't figure out where it should live. And that the other
Sports thread is in Games which is not really what we use the
Games category for... So I created a Sports section under
"Common Interests" and moved all the Sports related
conversations there. This does not mean that sports discussion
is banned from the Thread of the Day either, this section is
just a useful place to keep conversations going and find the
people who really do want to comment and talk about it.
