Dear LCP,
You think that you are being clever and indeed you are adorable,
snuggling ever closer to me, edging bit by bit to my left.
I'm sure that the pizza crust on the end table has nothing
whatsoever to do with this.

Ha! When my niece was little (an infant), we were all on some
vacation together and she kept wanting to come to me, and she'd
come to me and lean over my shoulder and then be done with me.
It didn't take long to figure out that she was really interested
in the bright alarm clock/radio on the side table in back of me
and I was just a stepping stone/obstruction on the couch to her
getting to it.
Small creatures of all sorts. <3

I come home from the store, put the bags down on the porch,
invite Ziva to come and smell stuff, and she invariably goes
right to the grocery bags. (They always go right to anything
new, but sausage has a higher drawing power.) Anyway, Ziva
responds to the command, "Get out of my bags." (Dakota did,
too.) Doesn't even matter if I'm using the stern voice or the
happy one. She backs off right away.

My choco labradog responded to "not yours" the same way. He was
such a good boy. I think he may have broken me from ever being
a dog's human again. He was that special.

You people and all your genius smart pets who understand &
respond to English.
Me: "Hey knock it off" (or some variation on that theme)
Gerbil🐭: <blank stare>

See my problem is when I tell the cat to knock it off, he takes
it literally.

Dear Neighbor Dog,
The other dogs have asked me to let you know that they think
it's great you've found a way to escape your yard, but the point
of escaping is not to come over to our gate and bark to be let
in, or, if we left it open, to run through the dog door into our
basement to say hello.
You are making a mockery of freedom.
Sincerely,
Yes I will play fetch guy.

Dear Mini-floof Dog (cleverly disguised as a gerbil),
How come you turned up your nose and refused the nice fresh
broccoli piece I tried to give you, but then less than 5 mins
later snarfed down the crusty, dried out piece of brocc I'd
found on the kitchen floor ?
What, were you raised by wolves or something ?
(Dont answer that.)
Love,
The Hand That Feeds You

Dearest Puppy,
I am happy you've figured out the toybox next to your favorite
armchair and ottoman is All Yours.
But guess what? Dropping my shoes into the toybox doesn't make
them yours. At All. Not the first time and not the millionth
time. So you may as well stop trying. Ain't gonna happen.
However, it is nice for a change to know where to look for them
and to find matching pairs in the same place. Note this is not
an invitation to continue stealing my shoes.
But now that you know how to put things into the toybox, please
start doing that with your actual toys. (Yes, expect chores to
be added to the next roommate meeting agenda.)
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Your roommate

😁😁😁 Floofs are such weirdos! Cyrus,
eater of paper and cardboard and a long list of blechery, turns
up his nose at lettuce. He makes an audible sound of disdain.
He won't even lick peanut butter or yogurt off lettuce! They've
been "tainted" by proximity.

He is soooooo earnest about it. The look of dismay (?) that it
isn't working is ... priceless. 🤣
