       Cause of recent declines in butterfly populations (NYTimes)

       Decreased amounts of milkweed due to herbicides was deemed not
       likely to have a recent impact, because most of that effect
       occurred before the study period.
       One topic not mentioned is automobiles/ trucks.  There was an
       article within the past year or so that discussed how much
       impact these might have.  Sort of makes planting milkweed on
       roadsides a bit like luring prey into range of the "predators".
