Supermutt can spell. W - a - (ears perk up - l (stands up) - k
(the walk dance begins).
Any word that ends in k works too. Park, ok, cake; car ride has
to be spelled too
He also let's us know when the timer on the oven has gone off,
or the microwave if it's for dinner. Breakfast? Lunch? Not
interested. But DINNERTIME is serious stuff.

Today's life lesson is for me.
Just because it was fine today, does not mean it will be fine
tomorrow.
After loading Rocket multiple times into the back of the truck,
he is now terrified to be anywhere near the truck. Although, he
will act interested in other vehicles with open backs. So I'm
thinking bringing him back to the Adoption Center to have them
look at his feet was a big fat mistake because that is the last
place we went before this started.
So, we are starting at the beginning. High value rotisserie
chicken while unlocking the back and raising the hatch. Not
even attempting to load him. He seems fine-ish with the closing
and locking of the hatch.
I also have Dog Lady who already demonstrated with her dogs that
all is well as they not only hung out, they leapt into the truck
unbidden multiple times. He was more relaxed with them milling
around apparently unconcerned. Dog Lady has also volunteered to
do it again on Wednesday after my treatment.

Setbacks will happen. The important part is to work on the reset
to get back to where you were.

Yep, you got this: he gets in, gets a treat, gets out
immediately.
Repeat one hundred times.
He gets in waits five seconds, gets a treat, gets out
immediately.
Repeat one hundred times.
He gets in. You back up eight feet. He gets a treat and gets out
immediately.
Etc.
If treats aren't his thing, use effusive praise and tummy rubs.
Whatever he responds to.
You'll get there. He's bonding with you but these things take
time.

We tried a different tactic this afternoon. We approached the
truck along the fence line rather than directly from behind.
That helped.
I didn't even bother with the hatch. I opened the driver door.
Fine but worried. I sat in the seat. He came right up. Fine
but worried. I then took him to the passenger door. Fine but
worried. I sat in the seat. Fine but worried. I then wiggled
away from the door until finally I was in the driver's seat and
he finally got in on the passenger side. With lots and lots of
encouragement. He was worried but not freaked.
Then the silly boy wouldn't get on the seat to get turned around
so I led him over the console and out the driver's door.
I had both doors open the entire time and didn't shut them until
he was back out. I call this a huge win. And chicken didn't
help in the slightest. He had no interest in it. I had to do
it all on encouragement and scritches.

a definitive win.
