My next adventure is Rocket Man but I think we will stick with
Rocket.
2.5 year old standard poodle. He is a beige-y color and super
skinny. He apparently came from a backyard breeding situation.
He is very nervous and doesn't like me approaching him so I've
been letting him fillow me but otherwise letting him be.
I wasn't sure how I was going to get him in the house, then he
saw Sasha and walked right in to follow her. He is curious
about the cats but not aggressive. Sasha has already slunk up
to him to sniff him. Nori is on top of the kitchen cabinets.
I have his crate set up finally. They need to give you classes
in undoing a folding crate.
And a cute little pic right before he fell asleep. With his
little not cone because he got neutered yesterday.

We have had a big day today.
Up at 6:30 am for potty. Sadly, we had a second potty in the
house less than 15 min after he ate so I need to be a lot faster
getting him out the door.
We went to Webers and got some dog bowls, and a puffy bed
because he is so skinny with scabbed over sores. We also bought
some food that the cat loves. He hasn't eaten since early this
morning of the new food or the food that came with him. I also
bought a pigs ear because it was the only treat he seemed
remotely interested in. He also isn't interested in toys either
although I got him a ball.
Occasionally, he wags his tail and a couple of times a playful
side came out during the walks. But mostly he feels sad.
He isn't terribly keen on the crate but he did sleep in it with
the door open. I was able to convince him to walk in and get it
closed behind him. I kept him in while I took garbage
downstairs and let him out after.
He's learning how to get up and down stairs. It's been pretty
rough getting him down but he is getting better. He is also
learning how to walk on a leash. He is completely unmotivated
by food so that is complicating things. But he loves getting
ear scritches so that seems to be working as inducement.
He is very quiet. I haven't heard a peep out of him. He is
definitely more my speed than a puppy.

Oh geez. He really is skinny.
He probably never had toys and was t given space to play. He
probably just needs some time, although he might never play
‘normally’.
FYI, Alex never knew what to do with a ball. He loved toys and
would fetch those but balls? Nope. And we got him at 4 months
old.
You’re doing such a good thing. I’m sure he’s going to blossom
with you.

Poor little guy.
I'd be cooking him tempting tidbits, because I am *that* lady.
He can't relax. That's OK. Just be quiet and steady and let the
poor little muffin experience your special brand of quiet
kindness.

FYI - that color is referred to as apricot. He's a lucky boy to
be hanging out with you and the girls. Poodles are (mostly)
hypoallergenic, so with some luck you won't have any issues over
and above whatever came with him.

I got an email today that he has crystals in his urine and needs
to go on special food. I pick that up in a day or two.
I tried out cheese since he has a huge interest in people food.
A bit of success but probably isn't going to consistently work
as an inducement. I discover he really likes chicken so I might
try weiners as that will be more convenient than bits of my
rotisserie chicken.
Good news for my back, he has totally mastered stairs. He has
also mastered getting on the bed. I am probably going to regret
letting him do this but this is where he spent (and still
spending) the afternoon.
This is a dogs life right?

I think he deserves a little pampering. I’m so glad you are able
to care for him!

My LHD came to us from the local pound with bladder stones and
we immediately made a dent in the local vet's debt load as she
needed surgery. But she recovered quickly and we 10 more years
with her.
So I'm glad they caught it before it reached that point.
Push water. Add a bit to his food to sneak it in. Also he can
have the following fruits: strawberries, blueberries, apples,
and watermelon.
No grapes! No raisins! I know they gave you a list but those are
two that are two that some like to sneak when you aren't
looking.
Actually, avoid the wieners for now. He is so thin and has so
much going on, I would minimize the nitrates and nitrates. That
pig's ear is plenty. A little rotisserie chicken sans skin to
tempt him is a good idea. Just a smidge.

I have a 7lb cat stalking a 41lb dog. I literally had to lock
him in his crate over night to keep him safe from her.
And it's her not him. He was lying on his mattress on the floor
possibly sleeping when I heard her low rumbling growl and he
shot off the mattress and attempted to climb up on the chest I
use as a bedside table.
She wouldn't stop until I crated him. Lots of excitement in the
Ryder household last night.
