On the 06/14/24 Thread of the Day someone kicked off a long
string of expressions by using a euphemism for saying that
someone was an idiot. Many of them were gold and deserved to be
preserved for posterity.
Their/they’re...
A few arrows short of a quiver
Cornbread ain’t done in the middle
Ten cents short of a nickel
A few sandwiches short of a picnic
A couple of s’mores short of a campfire
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer
Elevator doesn’t go to the top floor
Lights are on but nobody’s home
A few cards short of a full deck
A freeze-dried brownie short of an MRE
A couple of ramps short of a full interchange
Driveway doesn’t quite reach the road
If brains were leather, she couldn’t saddle a flea.
He could screw up an anvil.
She doesn’t know enough to pound sand down a rat hole.
He couldn’t pour piss out of a boot with a hole in the toe and
the directions on the heel
If brains were dynamite, they wouldn’t have enough to blow their
hat off.
