Alarms

I had an issue with my phone where none of my alarm apps would
work. I found the issue today but it made me think of how
people use them.
Are you an alarm person at all? Do you hit the snooze?
I am a snoozer. I set it for 8 minutes. Sometimes I need two
but occasionally I will need a third. I find 8 minutes is good
because I can't fall back to sleep.
Currently my alarm is the song True by Spandau Ballet. It's a
nice way to enter the world of the living.

I am absolutely an alarms person. Generally I only use 2 in the
morning, but definitely hit the snooze button (until my husband
starts complaining too much about them still going off...)
For being awake to work at 9 am, I have a 7:45 alarm, and an
8:22 one. The 8:22 is the one that gets snoozed... (shocker, I'm
sure). If I have to go into the office, move both of those back
an hour.

I have an alarm clock on the night table next to the bed.
In the last five years it has gone off I think twice, as I wake
up naturally 10 minutes before it(+/- maybe two minutes) every
freaking day like a swiss train schedule.
I set an alarm on my phone for vacation once, still didn't need
it.
Partner is a minimum three snooze 10 minute apart type person,
normal in other words.

Other places I use alarms: If I am falling asleep and giving in
to the nap, but need to make sure I don't sleep too long, I'll
set the timer for 40 minutes or so.
One of my games does stuff once in awhile that requires regular
attention, so I'll set a repeat timer for that so that I don't
miss the turnover point.

Mr Q and Youngest have to get up at 4:15 and 5:15, respectively
so they use alarms, which is extra annoying on days when they
aren't there. As the second person in the room I can't say I
love the snooze button one little bit.
Oldest can sleep through all but the most alarming alarm. This
is a problem.

I use my digital kitchen timer if I use an alarm at all. That
thing would wake the dead.

I have an alarm clock next to my side of the bed. I never hear
it unless for some reason my husband hits snooze when he gets
up, because I am usually awake about an hour to an hour and a
half before it goes off and I cannot do that lie around in bed
thing unless I'm sick as a dog. So generally I hear it if I
wander back into the bedroom in the course of getting ready for
work.

Three things:
1. Morning person
2. Sufficient sleep, which means an early bedtime
3. Body clock. Once you get up at 5AM a couple hundred times,
it tends to stick. Even on weekends, alas.

Being retired, I get up when I'm good and ready. Usually this
is between 10 and 11 am, but today it was 1:15 pm (oops). I am
naturally a night owl and have accidentally stayed up until 3 am
or even later on multiple occasions.
Nonetheless I set an alarm for 9. This is so that I don't allow
myself to cycle too far past typical waking hours, in case I
need to deal with repairs, deliveries, or other appointments. I
really need my full 8 hrs of sleep (which generally means 9 hrs
in bed), so if I am planning to travel I slowly crank my
schedule back to an earlier bed time/ rising. I really need the
alarm then.
I also use the alarm for appointments (ring 30 min before) and a
timer for cooking, because I get distracted by other projects so
easily.
