"Firefly"
A tv series lasting only one season,
its demise was without any reason.
A space epic based on the Western,
evidently way too difficult to discern…
its cancellation borders on treason.

Who is Smarmy Michael?

The executive producer whose shoe-in self-destructed.

I really enjoyed Firefly the first couple of times we watched
the dvd brick (the Train Job kick is what sold me on the
series). The film left a bad taste, and I haven't seen it since.
I'm about halfway through the Expanse on BluRay and afraid to
continue because I don't want it to fall apart. And Whedon has
rather staled with time.

Is there a "Late to the Party" award in this thread? We've been
bingeing The Sopranos, which neither of us saw when it was new,
and are loving it. Holds up really well after 20-plus years even
though Tony's racism is cringeworthy. It's probably also
realistic for his character.
FWIW, we often wait to watch shows until they've been around a
while (at least a full season) because it makes bingeing easier.

Reservation Dogs
I've tried 3 different times to get through the White Lotus
pilot and have failed every time, but I'll keep trying, maybe.
We're also just now starting Treme (from the creators of The
Wire, ran from 2010-2013), but that's slow going because we both
know it'll rip out our hearts and stomp on them.

Seems like all the good stuff is on HBO (which I dont have).
I do have Amazon & Netflix, so I'm always open to any recs
there.
Almost done with Clickbait (Netflix). It's turning twistier
than I'd first thought: it's okay, but not fabulous.

If you're good with subtitles, Lupin on Netflix is great!

Oui ! I saw both seasons (1st better than 2nd): it was great.
Omar Sy was perfectly cast & is perfection.

I've been a bit surprised at what doesn't hold up. Favorite
comedy shows from my childhood like The Carol Burnett Show and
Laugh-In are cringeworthily sexist and racist. Ditto the sexism
on shows like Boston Legal. Seinfeld doesn't feel nearly as
funny as it did at the time. Cop shows look very different post
George Floyd.

I understand the ACAB thing, really, it's tough.
But Kensi Blye? Tani Rey? Olivia Benson? not them...
And I refuse to believe Thomas Magnum grew up to be Frank
Reagan.
