Whew! Made it past another January

In the US, January is the deadliest month.
  HTML https://wapo.st/4bIZBuL
(But February is pretty bad, too.)
Overall, 20% more deaths occur in January compared to August,
which to me is an amazingly strong effect. The trend gets
stronger and stronger the older you get and it is believed that
the stress of cold weather is the primary contributor.
Strangely, the effect is strong in Florida, too. The "hanging on
until the holidays are over" phenomenon might play a role --
that's a bit hard to get good data on. (In Australia, July is
       the worst.)

Hmm. Mom, April. Dad, October. Mom's mom, May I think?.
       Mom's dad, fall.

My Mom and at least two of her siblings were January. I know at
least one of my Dad's was dead of winter cause it was so cold
they canceled the graveside part of the service.
I don't recall any of the other aunts and uncles, only the more
       recent ones.

My maternal grandmother died in November, maternal grandfather
in January, paternal grandfather (my grandad that I have written
so much about) in July, and my paternal grandma in May. Della,
my grand aunt and grandad's adoptive mother, died in May. I
guess my closer family offered mixed results, but a few other
elderly friends and family have died in the winter months in my
       experience.
I thought of this too, although it is a darker subject. Deaths
by suicide do not follow this pattern. Those deaths peak in
spring, which I can support because both of my psychiatric
hospitalizations for suicidal issues occurred in May, two years
       apart.

My (very) elderly uncle died this past January. A combo of
pneumonia and covid. Which makes me wonder if a lot of January
deaths, especially with the elderly, could be pneumonia-related.

I think I saw in the article that flu and pneumonia do
       contribute significantly.

       OT
I realize this isn't the point of this thread, but just want to
echo the title: "Whew! Made it past another January (and almost
Feb, too)!" I struggle every winter (no matter how mild) and am
thankful whenever I finally make it to March.

Spring is coming! It's almost 6 PM and it's not dark yet!
And there's a huge yellow full moon rising.
