Are the flops on back rollarounds always in stinky stuff?

Sometimes it just seems to be fresh cut grass. If it's other
stinky stuff, I can't see it, and she doesn't smell much worse
than ever.

From August of 2010 until now, I've had dogs in my house and in
my life. Here are some peculiar things that happen a lot with
both of them.
Right from the start, I'd put Dakota's collar on after
breakfast. Same with Ziva. Then I kiss them on the head. Then
they shake. Like they're shaking off the kisses. That has to
happen 49 out of 50 days. I've always liked kissing them on the
head. They don't do the shake at other times, maybe twice out of
50 times.
The dog will poop. Then the dog will sprint the length of the
yard, sometimes running all the way around the house. Because
they are
SO
MUCH
LIGHTER.
So much lighter.
Both of them were good for that.
When Dakota used to sleep with me, she'd curl into a ball
somewhere down near my feet. During the night, she'd often
stretch a bit, but she usually ended up with her head by my
waist. When I woke up, I'd reach down and scratch her head.
About 3 seconds later, her head would be right next to mine. And
I never felt her move. That happened almost every morning.
Ziva always gets into bed and lies down in my spot. Then when I
come to bed, I'll turn out the light and say, "Will you move
over for me?" And she does. A few times, I haven't said the
phrase, and she doesn't move. More often than not, she'll go to
sleep with her feet pointed at me. At some point, she'll roll
over, and we'll be back-to-back. Her head will be against my
neck, and we're tight against our spines all the way down to my
butt.
There are certain words they've always known infallibly: home,
in, up (as in the stairs or to get into bed), hungry, ball, out,
and most especially, cookie. Ziva will run the length of the
yard if I click the latch on the leash. Dakota always knew when
it was time to go out. She'd be sitting by the door. If it was a
walk time and not a yard time, she'd go sit right by the gate.
Dakota would eat almost anything: any kind of melon,
strawberries (she saved me throwing out the tops and stems),
cucumbers, bell peppers, mushrooms raw or cooked, and just about
any people food she could get her mouth on. (One time, she was
sitting so nicely waiting for a piece of ham that she toppled
over. I swear she looked embarrassed.) And oh yeah, she loved,
loved, loved dill pickles, the more sour the better.
Ziva doesn't do vegetables or salad stuff, but she does like
mushrooms, mostly raw, but she likes them cooked if they were
cooked near meat. She'll still eat melons, but she doesn't like
strawberries anymore. I like watching the face she makes when
she doesn't like something.
They really are individuals, and they have personalities.

I love that so much, Lab! They really are smart and funny. And
sweet
Ricky car also knew things, words. Like “let’s go to bed” and
he’d race me up the stairs. We’d spoon with my nose buried in
the fur on his back. And he’d put his paw in my hand.

Piper knew "go around" as in go around to the side door. She
picked that one up immediately. It was her first time going
outside after a rain. Knowing her feet were wet, likely muddy,
she needed to go through the garage and get her feet wiped
before coming inside. I gave her some help learning it, we could
see each other through the window so I motioned to the the of
the house. She was in before me.

I shouldn't forget bananas. Early on, I shared a banana with
Dakota. She ate it so happily that I started giving her one
every morning with her breakfast. Same with Ziva. Ziva might eat
the kibble around the banana once a week or so and leave the
banana. She never goes back for it.
And Dakota didn't like when her food touched. I figured it out
very early on, the first week I had her when she wasn't sure she
liked her dry food. One night I chopped up some bacon and mixed
it with her kibble. It took her so long to eat that I had to
look. She picked out the crumbled bits of bacon and then ate the
kibble. After that, she never had issue with the kibble. She
also ate one thing at a time, which was always interesting when
she got a scoop of the stew. Then she'd lick off the gravy and
eat the different veggies one at a time.

Alex died a few years ago, and to this day Mr saves the tip of
the banana for him. He can’t bring himself to eat Alex’s piece.
In reality it goes into the compost bin now.

You've inspired me to see if LCP wants to catch a tennis ball.
She's expert at catching food and at chasing and retrieving
tennis balls, but I've never seen her try to catch one.
Maybe I'll start with a stuffed toy like Mr. Duckie.
God I love dogs.

Bwahahaha! yeah, I tried that with Betty Jolene. She just
watched it sail on by.

And to keep with the theme. It’s that kind of morning here in NE
OH. Too bad the “moaning” doesn’t come through. She “moans” a
lot
