Gilbert is throwing up too much lately. I'm taking him to the
       vet tomorrow. Mojo gladly welcomed!

Feline mojo for Gilbert. Human mojo for you.

Hugs and purrs from our house to yours. When Boy Cat, who is 18,
was throwing up a lot, it was because his thyroid had gone
crazy. Meds have worked very well and he's back at a healthy
weight with almost no tummy issues. Hope Gilbert's situation is
       easily remedied.

Gilbert update: He had an X-Ray today, and they didn't see or
feel any obvious masses. He also had a blood draw done, and I
should hear back about those results tomorrow.

They figured Harmony might have had a herniated esophagus
(hiatil? Hernia) which is why she threw up quite a bit. But by
the time they figured that out she had cancer so little point in
       doing anything about it.

       Fingers crossed!
Oh, Billie, I'm so sorry. Our vet was pretty sure our previous
Girl Cat had cancer - we never did the full battery of tests
because going to the vet was very traumatic for her and she was
almost 19. We just kept her as comfortable as we could until it
was obvious her quality of life was poor.

I am trying not to catastrophize. We'll deal with whatever we
find out, once we know it.

Bear and Sweeney hugs to you, Gilbert, and Ginger (as kitty
       siblings tend to worry too).

A couple of blood tests came back abnormal. That may not
indicate anything's necessarily dreadfully wrong, but it does
mean they'll be running an additional test on his original blood
draw, and he'll be getting an abdominal ultrasound with a
visiting vet. I am waiting to hear back about when he can get
the ultrasound. Since my husband will be driving in to work next
week, we may need to wait till the week after next.
I told our vet that if the cat turns out to have cancer, we'll
want to give him palliative care, but not chemotherapy.
I'm on pins and needles, but not weeping and gnashing my teeth
(yet). *sighs* Thank goodness my therapist loves cats!
Gilbert took a long nap on my lap this afternoon.

Good news: Gilbert doesn't have diabetes.
His abdominal ultrasound is scheduled for next Monday.

Well, the good news is, Gilbert doesn't have cancer, diabetes, a
malformed esophagus, or a thyroid problem. The bad news is, he's
got some inflammation in his small intestine. The first
treatment we'll try is some expensive, limited-ingredient food.
Does anybody have success stories involving cats with IBD
(inflammatory bowel disease)? I'm not sure I can handle reading
more feline IBD horror stories right now, if you know what I
       mean!
Gilbert had to have his tummy shaved for the abdominal
ultrasound, and he looks pretty funny. He seems to have forgiven
me for taking him to the vet today, though; he's curled up on my
       lap right now.
I sure do love this little beastie!
