My aunt's Yorkie got so excited about "squirrel" we started
spelling it if we wanted to point them out in the yard without
setting her off barking - then she figured that out too so we
shortened it to just "s-q-u". She also got excited about
hearing "Greenies", her favorite treat.

My dog knows “walk,” “w” and how it’s spelled. So we sound like
Brits, “would you fancy a jaunt around the neighborhood “ or
something similar if we need to talk about it.
Similarly, she knows all the words for food, so if we need to
ask if she’s been fed, it’s something like, “Did she have the 4
o’clock morsel?”

LCP gets excited whenever anyone makes any sound of any kind.
But there are a few words that send her OTT, like "birdie" and
"bunny" and "squirrel." These are words we must carefully spell
lest a tiny enthusiastic tornado result.
She also delights in being instructed to "go get it" or "dig it
up."

LCP hasn't figured out what comestible means.
Yet.

(btw if you say chipmunks, i'll just be over here going
lalalalala with my fingers in my ears bc if that's the case i
dont want to know.)

We can spell out "food" as long as we spell it like the old
cartoon - "F U D".

The cats know "treats" and how to spell that. The dogs are
clueless still, but their treats are generally limited to when
they go straight to their kennel when brought in. And boy, do
we know if someone kenneled them and didn't produce the treats.
If I say "bathroom" then Gabriel will roar from wherever he is
to whichever toilet he thinks I'm going to. Since I retired, I
think I've been allowed to be alone in the bathroom maybe a
dozen times. There have been a couple of times he's nearly
tripped me trying to get in before I do so I can't shut the door
between us.

Most of our cats have known 'Dinner!' and would come running.
Our current two are indifferent. But when I walk to the couch
from my desk at the end of the day, Lil Sis comes running. It's
Pet the Kitty time!
