The Korean Beef and the Barbecue Chicken

The Korean steak recipe came from a Korean American student, and
I never had exact amounts of any of the ingredients. This steak
made the kind of good grill smell that brought out the entire 18
units worth of residents in my little studio apartment building
to have a taste. Some came back looking seconds the first time.

       The Korean Steak
Skirt steak sliced (against the grain) into thin strips
       Marinade:
Gochujang sauce (probably the whole jar)
About 1/4 cup peanut oil (I have used olive oil if I didn't have
       peanut oil)
       A lot of garlic powder
Enough soy sauce or Tamari to thin out the Gochujang sauce a bit
       A little black pepper
Grill on a hot grill. They cook up quick and make lots of
       smoke.
It is salty and spicy but only slighty weet. I would usually
make an Asian vegetable slaw and rice to go with the beef.
       Addictively good stuff. Very tasty.
       The Barbecue Chicken
I prefer dark meat for grilling but I have used bone in chicken
       breasts before too.
Giant Costco package of chicken thighs, washed and patted dry
       Extra virgin olive oil
       Garlic powder
       Fresh ground black pepper
       Sea salt
Rub the spices and oil into chicken and refrigerate for several
       hours.
       Grill chicken until almost cooked.
I never once made my own barbecue sauce. I prefer Stubbs
Original with a tbsp or two of honey mixed in for chicken.
Brush the sauce onto chicken for final few minutes of cooking.
Super simple. I think the marinade time is what makes a
       difference. Overnight is best.
