NSF investigation - sexual harassment in Antarctica

Not exactly sure where to put this so I put it here. I find it
extremely disappointing but not at all surprising.

       Doesn’t surprise me one bit.

I hope this helps, but I've been reading about this for years.
Sad that this is still happening.

Indeed, I already knew about this too, been following this story
for years now. I wanted to work in Antarctica for much of my
early graduate school career and I applied for positions there
after I finished my M.S., but the competition for those few
spots is intense and I didn't make the cut. There are few
places that are better for a diatom focused marine scientist to
work, but I am glad I didn't make it now. The disappointment
and lack of surprise I was feeling after reading this article
was aimed at how long it has taken for this level of engagement
from the NSF on this particular issue. Also, here it is in
print, the thing I have been talking about for years about
sexism in STEM programs in universities that some people still
seem to think isn't that big of a problem or isn't even a real
thing. I hate to see the article, but at the same time I like
to see the article if that makes any sense.

I should add that for a while there was a pipeline of people
from my hometown who worked in Antarctica. So in spite of the
       harassment people continued to go.
