How is it I never heard of these? I wish I had tried one before
donuts were off the menu. Sounds good.

They make them fresh at the apple orchard near where I grew up.
Last time we went, there was a long line for the donuts. Son
loved them. I didn’t try them since I don’t digest stuff like
that so well anymore.

They make them fresh at the orchard/farm market here and they
are soooo good. I might have to make a side trip over there this
weekend! We used to go to pick apples there and haven't done
that for years.

I love apple picking, but it doesn't make sense for just the two
of us. I can only make so many apple pies, apple muffins, apple
cakes, apple pancakes...
Last time we went, our favorite place did sell smaller bags for
pick your own, but it's a bit far for a small bag of apples. At
least an hour drive with two bridges and tolls. Although there's
that great bread and dessert bakery in the area too. Next year I
should make sure we have enough freezer space for a bread run
and spend a little time wandering around the orchard, have a
picnic.
There are other orchards on Long Island, but I do like the one
near where I grew up. And it can actually take longer to drive
to the ones on the Island!

A couple of the orchards in North Georgia make them as well. I
like them, but the apple flavor is subtle. My freshman year at
college, there was a small deli across the street that made
applesauce donuts. They were great. Unfortunately, it had a fire
and never reopened.
