Superfood

The nutritional breakdown is awesome for anyone, but especially
for an almost vegan like me. I'm going to try it, see if I love
it as much as I think I will - I do enjoy seaweed salads and I
love roasted seaweed snacks. The lavercakes look tasty to me.

Interesting. Can’t read links in any detail while camping - but
curious where you’ll get this ingredient. And if you’re buying
it rather than gathering it, whether it’s expensive?
My guess is that I’d like this.

I'm adding more links for when you get home. :)
I may order some and try the real thing from the Pembrokeshire
Beach Food Co. in Wales at some point, but, for my test run I
have ordered dried seaweed to make some and see if I will like
it as much as I think. I found the below recipe that starts
with the dried sheets of nori, but I ordered the dried whole
laver seaweed from Maine Coast Sea Vegetables. I need Atlantic
seaweed for the tradition on this, but there is also a company
that is really great for fresh Pacific dulse seaweed in
Garibaldi, Oregon, a bit down the coast from here. I may try
that too, see how it goes with fresh Pacific seaweed, maybe add
a tweak or two of my own to it. An excuse to drive down to
Garibaldi is an easy thing for me to find.

Thanks, Thetis! Such an interesting idea, I’ll have to try this
when I get home!
I’ll bet my DIL would like it as well so maybe I’ll make it
when they visit during Thanksgiving.

So it turns out that my Japanese-American DIL doesn't like
seaweed! So I'll have to just make this for myself.

Okay, I finally made laverbread today. I am pleasantly
surprised. It has a more mellow than expected flavor. Sort of
spinach like plus oceany. A tasty condiment with lots of
potential. I get why it goes well with Welsh cockles. I think
it is beautiful too, a rich dark glossy green.
I used this recipe:
